Join Our Team as a Zookeeper – Animal Care 1 & 2!

Dundee Township Park District is looking for enthusiastic and hardworking Zookeepers to provide exceptional care for the animals at Randall Oaks Zoo. If you enjoy working hands-on with animals, maintaining their habitats, and engaging with the public, this is the perfect opportunity for you!
What You’ll Do
As a Zookeeper – Animal Care 1 & 2, you’ll:
• Provide daily care for over 150 animals, including feeding, cleaning, and exhibit maintenance.
• Monitor animal health, behavior, and well-being, reporting any concerns to supervisory staff.
• Assist in administering medications and treatments under veterinary guidance.
• Maintain safe, clean, and organized animal enclosures and service areas.
• Engage with the public by providing educational programming and exceptional guest service.
• Follow all safety and animal handling protocols.
• Operate equipment such as tractors, vehicles, and tools related to zoo maintenance.
• Work outdoors in various weather conditions, including heat, cold, and rain.
Who You Are
You're a motivated team player with:
• At least six months of experience working with animals in a zoo, farm, or shelter setting (not including household pets).
• A strong work ethic and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Good physical condition with the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• A positive attitude, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills.
• A valid IL driver’s license.
• Comfort in public speaking and engaging with zoo guests.
• Bilingual skills in English and Spanish (a plus).
Schedule
• Limited part-time position, working up to 30 hours per week from March through December.
• Weekend and holiday shifts required, with occasional extended hours.
• Position limited to 1,000 hours per year.
