Job Summary: As a Summer Camp Counselor, you will be an integral part of creating a fun and supportive environment for campers. Your role involves actively engaging with and supervising campers, leading activities, and promoting a positive and inclusive camp culture. This position requires enthusiasm, creativity, and a commitment to ensuring a memorable and safe experience for all participants.

Responsibilities:

  1. Camper Supervision:
    • Supervise and ensure the safety of campers during all activities, meals, and rest periods.
    • Foster positive relationships with campers, encouraging social interaction and friendship.
  2. Activity Planning:
    • Lead and participate in a variety of camp activities, including sports, arts and crafts, games, and nature exploration.
    • Assist in the development and implementation of daily activity schedules.
  3. Role Modeling:
    • Demonstrate positive behavior, sportsmanship, and respect for others as a role model for campers.
    • Uphold and enforce camp policies consistently.
  4. Team Collaboration:
    • Work collaboratively with fellow camp counselors and support staff to ensure a cohesive and enjoyable camp experience.
    • Attend regular staff meetings and training sessions.
  5. Communication:
    • Communicate effectively with campers, parents, and fellow staff members.
    • Provide updates on camper progress, share highlights, and address any concerns promptly.
  6. Safety and Well-being:
    • Implement and adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines.
    • Monitor and attend to the physical and emotional well-being of campers, reporting any concerns to the appropriate staff.
  7. Inclusive Environment:
    • Foster an inclusive and welcoming atmosphere that celebrates diversity.
    • Encourage campers to participate in all activities and create an environment where everyone feels valued.
  8. Problem Solving:
    • Respond to challenges or conflicts among campers in a positive and constructive manner.
    • Seek guidance from senior staff when necessary and actively contribute to solutions.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 16 years of age,
  • Experience working with children in a camp, recreational, or educational setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Enthusiasm, creativity, and a passion for working with children.
