Description

The Coordinator is responsible for oversight of the Tri-S program and all institutional study abroad programs within the context of the mission and goals of Anderson University and in collaboration with respective academic departments/schools. Develops policies and programs that support and enable the development of intercultural competence with the AU community.  Serves as a resource for students and advises students interested in study abroad, international internships, and short-term service/learning experiences.  Develops and implements policies and procedures to assess and manage risk related to programming and travel (wiithin the US and internationally).


Responsibilities:



  • Coordinate the Tri-S Program and all institutional study abroad/study away programs.

  • Develop and implement international learning service programs in keeping with the mission of the Tri-S program and Anderson University, with an emphasis on service.

  • Serve as Anderson University liaison with ministry partners for purposes of travel opportunities.

  • Evaluate, negotiate and secure the services of reliable travel providers. Manage risk exposure related to programming and travel (within the US and internationally).

  • Supervise Tri-S group leaders. Manage office functions and record keeping.

  • Develop and manage budgets

  • Serve as Anderson University liaison with partner study abroad/study away programs.

  • Evaluate program components on a regular basis with findings used to improve processes.

  • Participates in campus-wide activities to advance intercultural learning

  • Pursues professional development


Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (education/training and experience required):


Required:



  • Bachelor’s degree required.  Master’s degree preferred.

  • Self-motivated and able to see the “big picture” of intercultural learning.

  • Knowledge of the travel industry and travel logistics essential to the development of educational/service itineraries.

  • Understands the inherent risks related to international or domestic travel and knows how to mitigate risk exposure.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of audiences.

  • Knowledge of databases, Excel, PeopleSoft (or aptitude to learn), and presentation software.

  • Ability to manage budgets within institutional budget parameters.

  • Excellent oral & written communications skills with ability to communicate and negotiate effectively.

  • Faith commitment compatible with the Church of God movement.

  • Supportive of the mission and vision of Christian higher education as expressed and carried out by Anderson University.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND/OR UNUSUAL HOURS:



  • Usual office environment; heavy walk-in traffic; high level of interaction with others in person electronically or via telephone.

  • Ability to be mobile between workstation and various campus buildings

  • Ability to travel.

  • Valid driver’s license.

  • Occasional evening/weekend work may be required.
