PURPOSE STATEMENTThe Training Manager is Accountable for the full and effective control of the Wilderness Air Flight Training which includes but not limited to, the safe, efficient, legal and correct conduct of all flight training.
Ensuring that all training conducted by or on behalf of Wilderness Air is correctly approved, authorised and released in accordance with the provisions of the Civil Aviation Regulations, Flight Operations Manual, Training Manual and Wilderness insurance policies.
KEY RESPONSIBILITY
- Liaise with the Civil Aviation Authority on training matters
- Attend Aviation Legislation and Industry related meetings.
- The co-ordination and control of all training provided for the personnel employed by Wilderness Air.
- Maintaining flying standards in consultation with the Flight Operations Manager and Chief Pilot.
- Ensuring standardisation of instructional and flight techniques amongst flight training personnel.
- Liaison of proficiency checking requirements on behalf of Wilderness Air with regard to all initial and periodic flight training including subsequent route competency and instrument rating checks.
- Ensuring that training files and complete documentation records are maintained for each individual Wilderness Air Personnel.
- Plans and supports the development of individualsβ skills and abilities.
- Ensuring that training and competency checking requirements are completed with the minimum disruption to the normal flight operations.
- Ensuring that all legal requirements in respect of the renewal or upgrading of pilot licences have been timeously complied with.
- Liaising with other training organisations and to submit recommendations which may serve to enhance Wilderness Airβs training capability and procedures
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Hold at least a Commercial Pilot License and Grade III instructors rating.
- Recognised Quality Assurance Management Aviation Certificate inclusive of Aviation Auditing.
- Recognised Flight Safety Certificate including Safety management System:
- Broad operational knowledge and experience in the function of the organization including: training management, aircraft operations, air traffic management, aerodrome operations and maintenance organization management.
- Sound knowledge of safety management principles and practices,
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Well-developed interpersonal skills.
- Computer literacy.
- Ability to relate to all levels, both inside and outside the organization.
- Organizational ability.
- Ability to work unsupervised.
- Good analytical skills.
- Leadership skills and an authoritative approach.

REQUIRED MINIMUM WORK EXPEREINCE
- 6 years plus in the aviation industry.
- Minimum 150 flight instruction hours.
- Reasonable period of management of an air service company with a fleet of two or more different aircraft types.
- Reasonable understanding of an air service company within a large corporate group
- Strong understanding of aviation risk and liability management.

- Experience in tourist charter type operations.
- Experience in multi-national and multi-cultural diversity.
- Citizenship / Residency / Work Permit of the region.
