Description

Basic Purpose:   The Sales Manager is responsible for driving hotel revenue for their assigned market segment, focusing on maximizing occupancy rates, revenue per available room (RevPAR), and driving overall profitability through effective sales and marketing efforts.

Essential Functions:

Sales Strategy Development:

  • Formulate and implement sales strategies to achieve revenue targets.
  • Analyze market trends, competitive landscape, and guest data to inform sales tactics.

Team Leadership:

  • Foster a high-performance, collaboration, and customer service excellence culture.

Client Relationship Management:

  • Build and maintain relationships with key accounts.
  • Negotiate clients' contracts, rates, and terms to maximize revenue while maintaining profitability.
  • Ensure client satisfaction through personalized service and follow-up.

Business Development:

  • Identify new business opportunities for the assigned market segment(s).
  • Attend industry events and networking functions as assigned and approved by the Director of Sales & Marketing to promote the hotel and establish new contacts.
  • Conducted site inspections and entertained qualified potential clients per company policies.
  • Maintain minimum weekly sales activity as directed by the Director of Sales.

Performance Analysis:

  • Regularly review sales performance metrics (e.g., occupancy rates, ADR, RevPAR) and adjust strategies accordingly.
  • Use CRM systems and analytics tools to track sales activities and outcomes.
  • Prepare reports and presentations on sales performance/activities and market conditions as requested by the Director of Sales and Marketing and/or General Manager.

Innovation and Improvement:

  • Continuously seek ways to improve sales processes, customer engagement, and service delivery.
  • Stay updated with industry trends, technology, and best practices in hospitality sales.

Compliance and Policies:

  • Ensure all sales practices comply with hotel policies, legal standards, and ethical guidelines.
  • Stay informed about travel industry regulations that could impact sales strategies.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in hotel sales.  Previous experience in a Sales Manager role is preferred but not required.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical and strategic planning abilities.
  • Proficiency with CRM software, sales management tools, and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to travel within the local market, as needed, to meet with existing and prospective clients.

Additional Functions:

  • Adhere to all rules and regulations outlined in the CHA La Mirada Employee Handbook.
  • Maintain an organized work area at all times.
  • Perform other duties as requested by management.

Requirements:

  • Knowledge of the hospitality, convention, and travel industry.
  • Knowledge of methods, processes, and procedures for developing viable sales contacts.
  • Solicit, negotiate, and generate contracted revenues from volume prospects that meet criteria established in the hotel business plan.
  • Accurately prepare and present Requests for Proposals so that both client and hotel receive a good value.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with customers/meeting planners and hotel staff.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel.
  • Willing to work a varied schedule as needed.

Physical Requirements:

  • Fluent in the English language.
  • Close and distance vision.
  • Frequent sitting with some walking and standing.
  • Frequently lifts/carries up to 10 lbs.
  • Continually use of manual dexterity and gross motor skills with frequent use of bi-manual and fine motor skills.
  • Stand for long periods and walk extended distances.
  • Reach hands and arms in any direction.
  • May be required to work overtime and irregular hours, including nights and weekends.

Knowledge and Skills:

Education:      A high school diploma or equivalent is required.

  2. Negotiation and Client Relationship Management:
    • Ability: Negotiate effectively with clients to secure favorable terms while maintaining profitability. Building and maintaining long-term relationships with key accounts to ensure repeat business.
    • Skills: Persuasive communication, empathy, active listening, and relationship management.
  3. Customer Insight and Service Orientation:
    • Ability: Understand customer needs and preferences deeply to tailor sales pitches and services accordingly. Focus on enhancing guest experience to drive customer satisfaction and loyalty.
    • Skills: Customer service excellence, market segmentation, empathy, and a customer-centric approach.

Travel required:                     Within the local market only.

Hours Required:                    

  • Scheduling is based upon business needs.
  • Typical work week is forty (40) hours per week with flexible shifts/days. 
  • May include weekends and holidays.
