Responsibilities 

The YMCA is seeking Summer Camp Counselors who are enthusiastic, energetic, and compassionate with a strong desire to positively impact the lives of young children while leading fun and enriching activities for school-age children participating in summer day camp at Camp. (Arlington Elementary School). 

• Connect: Supervise assigned groups of children and engage in positive staff-child interaction.
• Develop: Promote a healthy, emotional, social, intellectual, and physical environment of each child.
• Lead: Provide day-to-day responsibilities to create a safe, secure, and enjoyable environment for campers. 

Requirements 

Candidates must be committed to contributing to the mission, culture, and values of the YMCA of Greater Fort Wayne as well as:

• Minimum of 16 years of age with a high school diploma or its equivalent.
• Reliable transportation to attend work.
• Good communication, accounting, and organizational skills.
• Warm, engaging, and friendly demeanor that is able to connect quickly with children and their parents.
• If working in the afternoon, must be willing to get in the water with campers for swimming.
• Ability to relate to, welcome and communicate with diverse groups of people regardless of age, race, economic status, religion, or cultural differences.  

Salary: Part-time $14.00-$14.50 hourly

Hours Available: a variety of shifts available: Monday-Friday, 6:30 am-12:00 pm, 12:00 pm-6:00 pm. Camp starts May 22, 2025, and ends August 1, 2025
