Seeking Full Time Summer Day Camp Counselors in Corning

SCOPE AND PURPOSE OF POSITION:

 

The summer day camp was developed to provide a safe, drug-free environment for school age children during the summer months.









Responsibilities






ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

 

  • Represent the Salvation Army in accordance with the eastern territory employee manual
  • Supervision of children in accordance with New York state health department
  • Implementation, plan and supervision of those activities assigned by the summer day camp director
  • Participate in swimming activities
  • Monitor meals and teach appropriate table manners
  • Implementation of the summer day camp health plan, including daily health check, basic first aid, and familiarity with the emergency procedures (according to the summer day camp evacuation plan, personal level of CPR certification, and child’s medical release form)
  • Familiarity with summer day camp forms and the proper use of such forms (attendance sheets, incident/accident reports, medical logs, etc.)
  • Behavior management for children under your care
  • Submission to the staff supervision policy
  • Maintain cleanliness in areas designated for the children
  • Be available and flexible to help in other areas
  • Complete other duties as assigned by supervisor

Qualifications






SPECIAL SKILLS, CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Desire and ability to work with children
  • Ability to assist or lead with the teaching of activities
  • Energetic, sense of humor, patient and self-control
  • Safety oriented at all times
  • Creative and artistic a major plus
