Job Duties
Demonstrates and supervises activities such as historic activities, games, arts and crafts, cooking, etc. Supervises campers to ensure adherence to camp standards and established safety policies, procedures, guidelines, and operating requirements. Encourages participation in camp activities and assist campers as needed. Creates an environment which is inclusive for all campers. Acts as a positive role model to campers. Maintains a supportive, positive atmosphere that welcomes and respects all individuals. Communicates effectively, professionally, courteously, and thoroughly to campers, customers, co-workers, and supervisors. Performs related duties as required. Work 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. for approximately nine weeks from late May thru the end of July; Monday - Friday.
Minimum Qualifications
Age 16. Must be enthusiastic, dependable, mature with strong interpersonal and customer service skills. Be able to be outside in all sorts of weather, walk up to two miles daily, lift up to 30 pounds unassisted. Able to communicate clearly with campers, fellow counselors, interpretive staff and parents/guardians. Able to respond quickly in an emergency. Available to attend all training sessions and work Monday-Friday for the majority of camp.
Additional Considerations
Demonstrated child-care experience or education experience preferred. Experience with outdoor/historical activities preferred. Valid CPR, First Aid and/or CMA credentials a plus.
