MeatEater is hiring a Social Media Manager to help us lead the continued expansion of our brand and crew in the digital space. The Social Media Manager will oversee and help cover the execution of social media content, including expansion of other brand channels and guiding the creative process. This role requires experience in the social media space with demonstrated proficiency in digital video publishing, as well as a deep knowledge and passion for the outdoors. The ideal candidate also has excellent writing and communication skills. We are looking for an effective manager who can incubate a prolific and effective creative culture for the team, maintaining a keen eye for detail and prioritizing the needs of MeatEater’s incredible community. Experience with key social media platforms, namely Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok, is also key. Based in Bozeman MT, this position reports to MeatEater’s VP of Content.  


Requirements

  • Management of the current Social Media team, which includes multiple coordinators
  • Daily Scheduling of Social Media Content across multiple platforms including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and TikTok
  • Coordinate talent AMAs and Q&As across relevant community channels (e.g., Reddit, Facebook)
  • Accountable for daily performance of social content and broader growth of channels
  • Supporting social Content Capture, including filming and editing of social-only content
  • Pushing our social strategy forward across new platforms and channel expansion in existing platforms
  • Analyzing social media data and reporting to inform strategic development 
  • Other duties as beneficial to MeatEater

Experience 

  • Minimum of 4 years in the social & digital media space, ideally in the outdoor industry
  • Proven manager who has led strong teams and implemented creative culture along the way
  • Active on social platforms with a deep understanding of the outdoor influencer industry, understanding how each platform is different from the other
  • Produce clever, short social copy and relevant hashtags
  • Basic knowledge of Photoshop and Premiere 
  • Exhibit a deep understanding of social communities and are an active participant in them, with clear command of best memes, YouTube channels, and TikTok challenges, always looking out for what will trend next.
  • Strong creative communication and writing skills
  • Effective organization and project management experience
  • Deep understanding of social media, new media outlets, and content distribution in general
  • Passion and knowledge for the outdoor industry (hunting, fishing, and culinary) and its influencers
