Reporting to the Senior Tax Manager, The Senior Tax Analyst role will ensure compliance of direct and indirect tax filings, assisting with tax audits, drafting responses, preparing tax provisions for entities in multiple jurisdictions, information returns filing and any ad hoc projects.
This position will play an integral role in a key function within the organization, performing duties that will ensure timely compliance and tax efficiency for our global operations and liaising with advisors as well as finance management and staff in all regions which G Adventures operates.
We are seeking a team player possessing exceptional quantitative and analytical abilities to assist in driving our strategic outlook, paired with great interpersonal and communication skills. This position will be a great opportunity for an individual keen on learning and developing along with the evolving global tax landscape. This is a 9 month fixed term contract.
This role is a hybrid role based out of Toronto, Canada where a minimum number of days as set by the region, is required in our Downtown Toronto office.
What You’ll be Doing:
Preparation of quarterly and annual tax provisions for entities in various jurisdictions including but not limited to Canada, US, etc. and provide support to outsourced tax provision preparation by liaising with third-party advisors.
Preparation of Canadian income tax returns including but not limited to T2, T5013, T106 and T1134, and provide support to outsourced corporate tax return preparation for other jurisdictions by liaising with third-party advisors.
Preparation and filing of periodical indirect tax returns to entities in various jurisdictions, which may include liaising with third-party advisors. Additional jurisdictions may be added as the business and tax legislation evolves.
Assistance in monthly tax account review and analysis, draft journal entries including tax account reconciliations, true ups adjustments and facilitate legal entity tax installment calculation
Assist with the preparation of responses to tax related annual audit information requests and preparation of tax account reconciliation and tax note disclosure for financial statements
Assist with government audits, prepare responses to queries, and review assessments
Liaise with regional finance teams, AP, and treasury team to support tax-related information requests
Assist with template development and automation opportunities on tax calculation workbooks
Responsible for managing project timelines, including coordinating preparation schedules and communicating timelines to management.
Assist with the preparation of ad-hoc analysis and management reporting to provide tax input as needed.
Desired Skills & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business or finance
CPA designation (or close to completion) or Masters in Taxation preferred
Completion of CPA in-depth Tax Program level I to III (or working towards) is an asset
At least three years of corporate income tax or auditing/accounting experience in public accounting or an international corporation
Willingness to develop an understanding of corporate income tax on a multi-national scale
Demonstrates initiative to drive tasks to completion with minimal direction
Proven ability to effectively communicate and maintain relationships with external stakeholders
Experience with tax accounting, tax provisions and international tax preferred
Experience with indirect tax filing and EIFEL rules is considered an asset
Proficiency with Corporate Taxprep, Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
Experience with Looker, Dynamics GP or Workday is an asset
Comfortable with large amounts of data and strong documentation skills
Sound business and accounting/finance knowledge and judgment
Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Proven problem-solving capabilities and excellent attention to detail
Aptitude to work both independently and as a team member in a dynamic environment
Self-motivated person who takes initiative and ownership to improve tax related processes and procedures
