As the Senior Retail Brand Environmental Designer, you will lead the development of brand and seasonal campaigns, guiding the creative team towards innovative retail directives. You will also lead in the evolution of our retail store experience, forging the path ahead through thoughtful design. Your strong understanding of architecture, environmental design, graphic designand the retail landscape enables you to connect the consumer to our brand and product through premium retail executions and experiences. You’re a team player with passion, curiosity and a continuous drive to explore and evolve the brand.
This role is primarily based out of our North Vancouver office and is open to hybrid work. Candidates must be eligible to work in Canada.

The Direct Studio team is hands-on and iterative; building creative with the same passion embodied in our product. Art Directors, Graphic Designers, Photographers, Stylists, Videographers, Editors, Environmental Designers and Craftspeople embody a wide spectrum of skills and experiences. The team is comfortable behind the pen, on an exposed ridgeline, and in any global city. You will be a key member of the Retail Brand design team, working to bring brand focused projects and deliverables to life. You will work cross-functionally with our partners in Retail, Store Design, Brand Marketing and Brand Operations.

If you were the Senior Retail Brand Environmental Designer now, here are some of the core activities you would be doing:
- Setting the vision and tone for the retail brand experience of Arc’teryx
- Researching new market trends, innovative materials and processes related to retail
- Working with the Retail Brand Art Director, Creative Services team, Retail Design Team, and/or a Creative Agency to create global seasonal retail concepts for brand, campaign, and special projects
- Partnering cross-functionally to develop and adapt retail concepts for all channels (brand stores, partner stores, factory outlets, shop in shop, etc.)
- Creating 3D executions/experiences and translating 3D concepts into 2D mock-ups that facilitate comprehension to stakeholders
- Preparing concepts, layouts, and mock-ups as needed for projects using Adobe CC Suite and/or traditional tools, multimedia software and 3D image processing software
- Providing design guidance and consultation for retail initiatives
- Meticulously maintain visual hierarchy, consistent typography, brand standards, appropriate seasonal tone, spelling, and version control across multiple projects
- Partnering with Marketing Operations to establish scope and meet time sensitive deadlines
- Working independently as well as collaboratively with cross-functional teams to support all areas of Marketing with design needs
- Mentoring junior designers and helping to onboard outside agencies/contractors
- Supporting other design and production activities as assigned
- Concepting brand moments that tell a cohesive story throughout our customer journey
- Lending your knowledge and expertise to a retail tiering stratey and brand concepts playbook
- Exploring new and innovative ways to connect with our communities at retail
Are you our next Senior Retail Brand Environmental Designer?
- You have a Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Graphic Arts, Architecture, Industrial Design, Design or a related field
- You have 5+ years of Environmental Design, Architectural Design, Graphic Design, or a combination of related work experience
- You have excellent design and verbal/visual communication skills
- You have excellent ability to create, understand and translate 3D concepts into 2D mock-ups
- You have experience with both Mac and PC platforms
- You are proficient in Adobe CC Suite, AutoCAD, Sketch Up, Smartsheet and MS Office
- You have demonstrated the ability to proof-read text in English to a very high standard
- You have strong knowledge of current retail landscape and the latest trends and innovations
- You have a strong ability to drive work to ensure deadlines are met
- You are extremely organized
- You are detail oriented with a meticulous eye for visual consistency
- You are driven to problem solve and open to learn
- You are proactive in identifying the root cause of issues and developing solutions
- You remain highly flexible and adaptable when faced with ambiguity
