L.L.Bean is seeking a highly skilled and analytical Senior Digital Merchandising Analyst to join our dynamic Digital Merchandising team. The person in this role will focus on Product Selling. This is a pivotal new position on the Ecommerce team, responsible for disseminating ecommerce product performance insights across the organization to inform and influence strategic decisions. This role involves gathering and synthesizing data-driven insights from multiple sources to analyze product performance in priority categories, identifying trends, and providing actionable recommendations to enhance digital merchandising and product assortment strategies. This position is ideal for a highly analytical thinker who can speak with authority and influence, and who is excited by the opportunity to shape this role as they grow within it.

Responsibilities:

  • Own Ecommerce Product Performance Reporting and Insight Generation:
    • Define ecommerce product selling KPIs and reporting standards in partnership with the Ecommerce Analytics team.
    • Stand up tools to enable in-season performance analysis and self-service for key partners.
    • Conduct post-season performance analysis, comparing performance to last year, previous periods, and other channels.
    • Partner with Site Analytics and Customer Insights as strategic partners.
    • Understand digital marketing strategies to provide comprehensive insights.
  • Corporate Planning and Strategy Support:
    • Provide ecommerce product selling insights and recommendations into corporate planning processes, including product development, line assortment, and the commercial plan.
    • Support Mind-to-Marketing product creation process by providing insights to optimize assortment strategies.
    • Support commercial plan creation process by providing insights to define seasonal priority products.
    • Create seasonal performance recaps and special project postmortems to inform future season strategies.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration and Ad Hoc Analysis:
    • Provide insights to Digital Merchandising Analysts and Digital Product Managers to inform ecommerce strategies and optimizations.
    • Conduct ad hoc analysis as needed to drive forward strategies from other groups.
    • Analyze variance between selling channel performance to optimize strategies.
    • Perform return rate analysis to identify areas for improvement.
    • Collaborate closely with Merchandising, Inventory, Site Analytics, Customer Analytics, Customer Insights, Retail, Wholesale, and Marketing Analysts to ensure cohesive strategies.

Skills and Qualifications

Education: BA or BS required

Experience: 3+ years in Ecommerce or Merchandising Analytics or other related fields

  • Previous experience working in a similar Ecommerce or Merchandising analytical role
  • Strong proficiency in SQL and comfort working with large data sets.
  • Ability to analyze data and form a point of view based on insights.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to tell a story using data, simplify complexity, and articulate finding to influence and drive change.
  • Comfort developing PowerPoint presentations for and speaking to senior level audiences (up to the Executive level)
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
  • A collaborative spirit with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work cross-functionally with a wide range of people
  • Ability to organize and handle multiple workstreams, prioritize workload with shifting priorities, and act autonomously
  • Comfort with ambiguity and the ability to adjust to a quickly changing environment
  • Proactivity, curiosity, inquisitiveness, and a passion for ecommerce
  • Experience with or curiosity about leveraging Gen AI and AI-assisted data analysis to find efficiencies
  • Excitement for the outdoors and getting others outside
