The Route Wall Maintenance team at Momentum Utah will support the Routesetting Program through various essential tasks, including stripping walls, washing and organizing climbing holds, and ensuring all work adheres to company and industry safety standards. This position is crucial for maintaining the quality and safety of our climbing walls and enhancing the overall customer experience. This position does not include regular routesetting but plays an integral role in supporting the routesetting team. The Route Wall Maintenance position reports to the Head Routesetter.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Safety Compliance: Adhere to company and industry safety standard operating procedures (SOPs), including those related to working at height on ropes, ladders, and lifts.
  2. Wall Stripping and Hold Washing: Efficiently strip the bouldering and roped climbing walls as needed and thoroughly wash climbing holds to maintain cleanliness and safety.
  3. Customer Service Contribution: Understand and contribute to Momentum’s customer service goals, recognizing that all tasks, including wall maintenance, contribute to the overall customer experience.
  4. Professionalism: Always maintain a professional and approachable demeanor, setting a positive example for others.
  5. Team Collaboration: Actively contribute to a positive workplace environment, supporting and helping fellow employees and working effectively as part of a team.
  6. Equipment and Area Maintenance: Sort, organize, and maintain climbing hold storage, bolt storage and ensure the work area remains clean and safe.

COMPENSATION, BENEFITS, AND PERKS

  • Starting pay of $15.00/hour, depending on experience.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Effectively work in a dynamic, team-oriented environment.
  • At least one year of prior climbing experience is preferred.
  • Comfortable working at height and able to operate the lift.
  • Comfortable using and maintaining machinery such as pressure washers, impact drivers, and other hand tools.
  • Able to understand and execute industry-approved work-at-height practices to ensure occupational safety.

Physical Requirements

  • Able to work in a high-energy, dynamic environment regularly.
  • Comfortable working at height in various conditions (rope, lift, behind the wall).
  • Continuously stand and walk on unstable and uneven surfaces for long periods.
  • Able to repeatedly lift, move, and carry up to 50 lbs of weight regularly.
  • Able to balance, kneel, pull, push, and grasp objects as needed.
  • Have the visual acuity to assess fine details such as broken equipment, damaged equipment, or missing components.

HOURS AND AVAILABILITY

  • Part-time position, 4-8 hours/week.
  • Flexibility to work weekends and nights when applicable - during competitions or otherwise.
