The Retail & Housekeeping Supervisor supports the mission of Sky Ranch by overseeing and managing the cleanliness and sanitation of all the Sky Ranch rooms, cabins, and lodges as well as retail outlets located at the Ute Trail facility in a God-honoring and professional manner. The major areas of responsibility of the retail are customer service, operational setup and shutdown, staffing, training, product selection, purchasing and negotiating costs with vendors, and operational maintenance. This position is also responsible for providing a clean and safe environment for all of Sky Ranch guests throughout the year. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Learn and implement industry standard customer services techniques and expectations.
  • Conduct regular meetings with summer store staff to ensure guests are adequately served while visiting; continually training staff on having the ability to offer excellent customer service; product knowledge; cleanliness; and point-of-sale system operational skills.
  • Determine weekly schedule for summer staff employee through coordination with Ute Trail program managers (Family Camp, Sigma and Wilderness) to set and maintain retail hours that will serve guests adequately and effectively.
  • Conduct bank deposits and daily cash balances.
  • Oversee completion of daily opening and closing procedures checklist. Ensure merchandise is organized and displayed in a professional and appealing manner. Arrange merchandise displays, rotating and rearranging as necessary to create an inviting environment for guests.
  • Maintain awareness of retail's daily gross sales and profitability; operate store to remain within sales and expense budgets. Maintain retail price structure versus cost in all retail outlets.
  • Determine specific product offerings from apparel and gifts to food and beverage. Hold design meetings for product reviews. Evaluate input from other departments. Negotiate prices with vendors based on annual volume. Order/obtain necessary product. Inspect inventory levels. Prepare and approve Purchase Order requisitions for inventory and supply purchases related to retail.
  • Fulfill/deliver orders for SkyPacks, SnackPacks and Camper Tees.
  • Continually review and assess optimal additional outlets on Van property for retail sales.
  • Communicate with the Director through required monthly updates, financial reports, monthly semester and yearly statistical data.
  • Work closely with Retail Managers at Van and Cave Springs locations to ensure product and pricing consistency. Coordinate group purchases and transfers when appropriate.
  • Oversee all aspects of housekeeping at Ute Trail
  • Clean cabins and rooms during retreat season
  • Manage deep clean schedule around camp
  • Schedule and supervise part-time housekeeping employees
  • Manager and order cleaning supplies
  • Assist with writing housekeeping standards and cleaning lists
  • Organize and inspect cabin cleaning during the summer and manage family camp staff who do the cleaning

 

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain compliance with Sky Ranch’s employee policies and procedures.
  • Maintain compliance with Colorado Department of Health, ACA, and OSHCOM regulations and guidelines.
  • Perform other duties as required.

 

 QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION 

  • High school degree

 EXPERIENCE

  • Three years of retail or purchasing experience.
  • Housekeeping/Custodial experience


KNOWLEDGE OF:

  • In-depth understanding of customer-service through retail and/or sales experience.
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing excellent customer service. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction. 
  • Proficient working knowledge and ability to use various office software including, but not limited to, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS 

  • Ability to carry a minimum of 25 pounds, and push up to 50 pounds of force frequently to move objects.
  • Ability to grasp, push, pull, carry or otherwise manipulate objects; ability to perform tasks requiring action of muscles or groups of muscles and foot and/or hand-eye coordination, including: reaching, bending and stooping frequently.
  • Requires some physical agility, including but not limited to: bending for items below or reaching for items above the individual; crawling under desks; stooping, and climbing step stools or ladders.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT  

  • Works indoors in normal office environment majority of the time.  However, must be able to stand long-term and walk long distances as necessary to cover retail shifts.
  • Very limited exposure to physical risk. Hazards may include, but are not limited to, slipping and tripping.
