Park Ranger II
Location: Huntington State Park (based at 1343 N Mohrland Rd, Huntington, UT 84528), supporting Huntington, Millsite, and Scofield State Parks
Agency: Department of Natural Resources – Division of State Parks

Work Schedule: Weekends, 5-8's, evenings and Holidays. Winter months some graveyard shifts.
Telework Eligible: No

Utah State Parks is hiring a Park Ranger II (Non-POST Certified) to support operations across three parks: Huntington, Millsite, and Scofield. This position offers a diverse set of responsibilities, from maintenance and supervision to special event planning and customer service. Responsibilities

 • Perform buildings and grounds maintenance, janitorial duties, and snow grooming
 • Assist with park budget management, including bill payment, hiring, and purchasing
 • Collect fees, register campers, and provide information to the public
 • Supervise and support seasonal staff and volunteers
 • Plan and help carry out special events and community activities

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
 
• Ability to take and follow directions and complete tasks professionally and on time
  • General maintenance knowledge (e.g., electrical, plumbing, carpentry, landscaping)
  • Ability to operate and maintain tools, equipment, and maintenance databases
  • Proficiency using computers, point-of-sale (POS) systems, and handling cash
  • Experience supervising, scheduling, and training employees or volunteers

Preferred Qualifications:
 
• Experience with business management, cash accounting, or park operations
  • CDL or ability to obtain within one year
  • Experience with outdoor recreation activities
  • First Aid/CPR or Wilderness First Responder certification
  • General knowledge of Utah’s park system or similar public land management

Supplemental Information

Working Conditions:
 
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform physical labor such as digging, raking, or lifting
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions (extreme heat, cold, snow)
  • May require operating OHVs, power tools, and park vehicles
  • Must be willing to work weekends, holidays, evenings, and occasional overnight travel

Other Requirements:
 
• Valid driver’s license required
  • Background check required
  • Completion of mandatory training (Defensive Driving, Security Awareness, Ethics, etc.)
  • Emergency medical certifications (First Responder/CPR/Bloodborne Pathogen) may be required
