OVERVIEW
The Outdoor Recreation Supervisor (ORS) will play an integral role in the day to day of the Outdoor Programs department. This position is responsible for planning and overseeing all outdoor recreation programs and internal youth programs. Additionally, the ORS would assist the Events & Outdoor Programs Manager (EOPM) in planning and executing our Race Series and teambuilding programs. This position has a flexible schedule but will primarily program Tuesday - Saturday during the school year and work Monday - Friday during the summer. The ideal candidate will have a passion for the outdoors and a commitment to providing exceptional recreational experiences for participants of all ages.
KEY FUNCTIONS
OUTDOOR PROGRAMS:
- Plans and coordinates a variety of outdoor recreation programs for the public including, but not limited to:
- Paddling programs (kayaking & paddleboarding)
- Mountain bikes
- Campouts
- Fishing
- Yoga
- Birthday Parties
- Collaborates with the EOPM for race series to determine race route, marking the course, assist in race execution, and clean up
- Coordinates with EOPM for signature events including Earth Day, Great American Campout, race series, etc. May include facilitating programs, interacting with the public, etc
- Coordinates with the EOPM to plan and execute corporate or school teambuilding programs
- Manage the administrative work associated with outdoor recreation; inputting programs, pulling rosters, purchasing supplies, creating program plans and communicating with guests and members
- Oversee the maintenance and upkeep of a variety of outdoor recreation equipment including inspections of the low ropes course, disc golf course, and mountain bike skills track
- Assist with campouts which may involve an overnight at the Greenway sleeping in a tent or a hammock
- Hires, trains and schedules kayak attendants and yoga instructors
- Attend scheduled staff meetings and trainings
- Adhere to all Company policies, procedures and standards set by the Company
- Must be available weekends, evening, holidays and occasionally during the weekday
- All other duties as assigned
YOUTH PROGRAMS:
- Coordinate and lead recreational activities for Afterschool on the Greenway (AOTG)
- When not leading recreational activities for AOTG, will serve as a lead counselor for AOTG
- Works with summer camps to coordinate and execute summer camp recreation schedules. Supervises and leads activities as needed
- Hires, trains, and schedules summer recreation staff
- Other duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and or/ability required. - Degree in recreation management or outdoor education preferred or other relevant field or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities
- Wilderness First Aid Certified preferred
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Valid Driver’s License
- First aid/CPR certifications, training will be provided
- Child and Youth Protection, training will be provided

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects when needed. Physical demands are mostly on foot; must be able to remain on feet for extended periods working outdoors in all-weather conditions in a highly physical role.
