ARC is looking for an Operations Engineer II to join our team! In this role, you will Operate, monitor, and troubleshoot the computer system. As an Operations Engineer II, you will monitor network, environmental tools, and escalate to the appropriate vendor/support group in the event of a problem.You will receives direction from the lead operations analyst. The position is expected to function autonomously and may assume the lead operations analyst when necessary

What You'll Get to Do:

  1. Monitor and manage Data Center systems including mainframe, servers, and all peripheral equipment; monitor batch processing across multiple logical partitions (LPARS) through the enterprise scheduling tool used in the enterprise data center; monitor network and environmental tools throughout all ARC offices through use of What’s Up Gold (WUG) and SiteScan to ensure data is loaded into the appropriate systems in order to support ARC’s products and customer use, systems are operating as expected and the data center environment is running at optimum efficiency.
  2. Interface with both internal and external customers by providing initial level troubleshooting help desk support for PC, phone, application production support using an automated enterprise job scheduling tool (CA7), password resets, and other system related issues and escalate to the appropriate team as needed.
  3. Review existing server space configuration and determine whether there is capacity to install additional servers, new cabinets and cables. Provision the new servers by setting up monitoring, running new cables from the servers to the power distribution unit (PDU). Decommission servers that are no longer needed.
  4. Ensure physical and system security for the computer room and other ARC occupied areas by following established procedures. Answers calls from ARC’s third-party security monitoring company by checking space (either physically walking the Louisville offices or checking the cameras after hours for the other offices) to detect unauthorized entry. Coordinate appropriate response with security company as needed. Escalate to Corporate Risk as required. Provides afterhours facilities support if needed.
  5. Escalate production failures and environmental problems to appropriate support personnel, implement appropriate course of action as established and recorded within the documentation library, and document using Service Now incident reporting software.
  6. Train, mentor, and guide other Operations Engineers and trainees.

You'll Bring These Qualifications:

  • Associates degree preferred; equivalent experience considered.
  • 2 years data center experience or college-related technical training
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Knowledge of MS Office tools is required
  • Knowledge of enterprise scheduling tool a plus
  • Ability to adapt to changing circumstances such as a last-minute work schedule change or shifting processing priorities
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Works holidays and weekends as required
  • 24/7/365 Data Center, with shift work. Eligible for shift differential (2nd and 3rd shift).
