We’re looking for an amazing Manager, Public Relations.  This is a hybrid, in-office role. You’ll work in person at our Fort Lauderdale Office Tuesday to Thursday each week. You’ll be responsible for managing the development and implementation of compelling, innovative public relations strategies for Princess Cruise Line to generate earned media that drives brand awareness and demand for cruising.

Responsibilities

  • Manages media components of ship launches, press conferences, briefings, trade shows and other media events.
  • Manages annual fam trip program, using press cabins effectively by identifying the most productive journalists with good track records, hosts media trips for the best editorial outcome, and tracks productivity of writers to evaluate ROI.
  • Provides a comprehensive advance briefing to the ships of all press scheduled to sail including for group press trips, individual sailings, international media requests and other onboard functions.
  • Develops new story angles and prepares supporting materials; collaborates with internal departments on a regular basis to uncover newsworthy product initiatives. Keep informed of industry news and issues to support message delivery. Stays current with new technologies and resources that benefit the departments effectiveness and efficiency. Evaluates incoming opportunities and makes recommendations to department leadership
  • Proactively outreaches to media contacts and identifies new media for editorial pitching. Represents the brand through participation in relevant media marketplace events, identifying opportunities for future editorial opportunities
  • Responds to daily media requests with appropriate brand messages and researched information, to meet each journalist's deadline and for best editorial outcome.
  • Prepares professional briefing materials for executive press interviews including key messages, talking points and quotes, and coordinates interviews between journalist and executive.
  • Maintains and tracks progress of the press release schedule, ensuring news is accurately drafted on timely basis. Distributes press release schedule to global PR team to ensure they have advance notice of planned announcements. 
  • Prepares timely media statements and updates reactive media statements ensuring the appropriate media receive updates proactively and reactively on key issues. Also oversees communication of statements to international PR teams and ensures posting on princess.com, when appropriate.
  • Manages department photography, photo shoots, b-roll and photo library to ensure current and compelling image collection. Reviews incoming requests for onboard broadcast shoots, recommends opportunities, and serves as onboard escort to ensure best outcome.
  • Manages program budgets contributing to overall department budget including yearly and monthly forecasting to ensure budget is accurate and on track. Raises issues or reallocates monies if additional resources are needed or projects are changed or rescheduled.
  • Compiles monthly data and highlights accomplishments for Board Report and meets submission deadline.
  • Manages the department’s PR coordinator/intern for activities related to external communications. Provides feedback on a regular basis and delivers annual review for direct reports, and coaches for improvement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Public Relations, Communications, Marketing, Business, Journalism
  • 5+ years’ experience in public relations and media relations, preferably with some experience in the travel industry
  • Understanding of PR’s role in integrated marketing 
  • Experience creating strategies and pitch plans that lead to successful media relations
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills, resourcefulness, ability to anticipate and solve problems
  • Skills in Microsoft Suite and media relations software, such as Cision
  • Experience managing up to executives and coaching executives to perform well with media
  • Results-orientation, effective judgment, self-motivation, ability to juggle tasks effectively, strong listening skills
  • 25-50% with shipboard travel likely
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.  Princess is unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of employment visas at this time (e.g., H-1B status).

  • Base Salary Range: $89,600.00 to $121,00.00. The range is applicable for the labor market where the role is intended to be hired. Final base salary is directly related to each candidates' qualifications and experience uniquely.
