Overview

 

The Leisure Sales Manager (On Site) is responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with travel advisors, agency owners, consortia program managers and influencers. He or she will assist in defining and managing the strategic direction and tactical implementation of leisure room sales for 582 guest rooms, suites, casitas, villas and bungalows. Primary market segments of focus include Retail, Consortia, Wholesale/FIT and various Discount channels to include online travel agencies, private auction sites and other emerging online sales outlets. He or she will must be based on property and be able to greet clients, VIPs, conduct property tours and handle all aspects of the guest stay. Extensive travel and entertainment will be required.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with travel advisors, agency owners, consortia program managers and influencers.
  • Identify opportunities to grow business and expand market share or RevPar Index growth.
  • Must be available to travel 1 – 2 time per month, or as required by business demands both on a domestic and international basis.
  • Must be able to give presentations to large groups in-person and virtually.
  • Attend industry networking events.
  • Must have strong organizational skills to plan sales missions, client events, and FAM trips
  • Draft newsletters, e-blasts as well as organize direct mail and other marketing pieces.
  • Conduct property tours and exhibit property knowledge.
  • Must be able to respond to all email inquiries and calls, draft comprehensive proposals, and customize client itineraries within a timely manner.
  • Must conduct follow-up emails or calls in a timely manner.
  • Must have understanding of in-house reporting to track travel agent and wholesale booking activity.
  • Make outbound solicitation calls and track sales activities.
  • Work with other departments to ensure hosted clients and industry guests receive exceptional experiences.
  • Must have current knowledge of competitive set and product knowledge of surrounding area and activities, and destinations throughout North America.

 

Additional Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Forward all potential resort sales leads to relevant departments such as Group and Catering leads.
  • Maintain logs for arrivals and sites.
  • Maintain leisure database.
  • Attend meetings as a representative of the Leisure Sales department.
  • Develop both short and long terms goals relating to interpersonal development and departmental improvement.
  • Train, coach, and develop leisure coordinators.
  • Provide timely guest feedback to revenue leaders and operations.
  • Receive and handle guest complaints and ensure corrective action is taken.
  • Interface with Accounting as needed on billing and commission issues.
  • Interface with other departments such as Front Desk, Concierge, and Housekeeping to ensure guest needs are being met.
  • Answer incoming calls in less than three rings in a professional demeanor following resort quality standards, convert the caller to a booking and generate the highest revenue possible.  This includes offering and booking ancillary revenue.
  • Ensure proper booking information is recorded for each reservation and according to resort standards.
  • Conduct pre-arrival calls and assist guests with any pre-arrival requests and anticipate needs for ancillary bookings.
  • Greet guests upon arrival if appropriate.
  • Keep current with all communication and departmental changes. 
  • Assist with other departmental needs such as room stripping, room deliveries, luggage pulls, lobby assistance, associate events, or off-property events.
  • Maintain a neat, clean, and safe work environment.

Qualifications

  • The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.
  • Speak English clearly with poise and confidence using correct English with a well-modulated voice.
  • Write professionally with correct grammar and punctuation to correspond with clients and colleagues.
  • Be fair to all team members.
  • Read, interpret, and create business records and statistical reports.
  • Use mathematical skills to interpret financial information.
  • Understand the government regulations covering business operation.
  • Make business decisions based on production reports and similar facts.
  • Plan and organize the work of others.
  • Knowledge of the luxury travel trade industry is essential.
  • Experience in strategic account management methods, as well as, advanced business planning acumen.
  • Possesses an extensive network of travel industry contacts.
  • Ability to work under stressful conditions and balance multiple commitments simultaneously.
  • Strong customer service aptitude.
  • Understanding of budgetary and fiscal responsibility within the department.
  • Familiarity with all operational areas of the resort.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to utilize them effectively in English with guests, peers and associates.

 

Experience, Education, & Licensure:

  • College graduate or equivalent industry experience.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience as a manager within a resort Sales & Marketing department, preferably a four-diamond property with more than 350 rooms.
  • Must be profession in appearance.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint. Experience with Opera PMS and Agency360 is desirable.

 

Miscellaneous Skills:

  • Requires Mathematical skills, to be able to: add, subtract, multiply, and divide all units of measure.
  • Highly professional appearance.  All Terranea associates must maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance.  Specific standards are available.

Compensation

Base Pay Start Rate: $66,560/Yr. - $80,000/Yr
