2. The role
As a Camp Counselor, you’ll be the heart of our students’ experience—from the moment they wake up to lights out at night. This role is more than just a job; it’s an adventure! You’ll lead fun-filled activities in the afternoons and evenings, guide students on exciting excursions, and create unforgettable memories along the way. Most importantly, you’ll be a trusted mentor, ensuring our campers feel safe, supported, and inspired every step of the way. Their well-being is our top priority, so we need enthusiastic, responsible leaders who are ready to make a difference.
3. Key responsibilities
Safeguard and promote the wellbeing of all students in our care
Prepare and lead afternoon and evening activities and/or Premium activities, giving thought to staging to ensure all students enjoy each activity.
Prepare and lead excursion sessions, giving thought to cultural immersion and student safety.
Review session plans and excursion material before sessions, along with corresponding risk assessments.
Deliver the standard of quality that our students and stakeholders expect of Alpadia.
Be friendly and approachable to develop positive relationships with students that help to enhance their overall experience.
Manage students’ behavior, with a judicious awareness of the need to sanction or encourage as appropriate.
Prioritize the safety of students more than anything else, following our Safeguarding and Health and Safety procedures.
Supervise students’ free time actively and professionally. Ensure rules in the residence are always followed and the accommodation is kept tidy. Ensure the students go to bed and wake up at the appropriate times, accompanying them as necessary.
Assist in the check-in/check-out procedure.
Supervise students at mealtimes.
Ensure you complete all additional tasks as given by the Camp Manager.
4. Skills and Experience:
Essential:
Able to lead, motivate and encourage large groups of teenagers
Excellent communicator
Ability to work under pressure
Excellent organisational and effective communication skills
A commitment to delivering exceptional customer service
Being flexible and adaptable to change
Display a positive, can do attitude
Ability to work as part of a team and contribute to its success
Experience of working with junior students in education or care settings
Desirable:
Experience working in holiday camps or similar organisations
Keen interest in culture and sport (preferably with relevant qualifications such as First-Aid qualification)
Experience of working with international students
Previous experience of running an activity/leisure programme
5. Timetable
The working week is a varied and busy one and you will find there are always things to do. Working hours vary by camp and country. Your Camp Manager will look to give you downtime where possible (for example when the students are in classes), but you should anticipate a demanding workload in a fast-moving, exciting environment.
In addition, all Activity Leaders are entitled to one day per week, to be decided by the Camp Manager. Any specific requests should be made to the Camp Manager, who will do his/her best to help but these cannot be guaranteed.

As our roles involve the pastoral care and safeguarding of junior students, our employment offers are conditional upon satisfactory completion of the relevant nation’s statutory and regulatory pre-employment vetting procedures.
