JOB SUMMARY

We are looking for an experienced Human Resources Manager to work in the beautiful outdoor adventure business to ensure that all human resources (HR) operations are carried on smoothly and effectively.  

This business works in remote locations but is based at the largest campus which is still rural and rustic and is spread over a total of five states.  

The business is for the most part seasonal but work is all year long.  Overseeing a department of three including administration, recruiting and housing. 


Responsibilities

  • Develop corporate plans for a variety of HR matters such as compensation, benefits, health and safety etc.
  • Act to support the human factor in the company by devising strategies for performance evaluation, staffing, training and development etc.
  • Oversee all HR initiatives, systems and tactics
  • Supervise the work of HR personnel and provide guidance
  • Serve as the point of contact for employment relations and communicate with labor unions
  • Monitor adherence to internal policies and legal standards
  • Deal with grievances and violations invoking disciplinary action when required
  • Anticipate and resolve litigation risks
  • Report to senior management by analyzing data and using HR metrics
  • Create a comprehensive recruitment plan each year for full staffing throughout the season. 
  • Assist in the creation of the HR budget and capital expenses.
  • Oversee staff housing and its nuances as it relates to comfort, safety and allocation to seasonal employees. 


Skills

  • Proven experience as HR Manager or Assistant HR Director
  • Full understanding of the way an organization operates to meet its objectives
  • Excellent knowledge of employment legislation and regulations
  • Thorough knowledge of human resource management principles and best practices
  • A business acumen partnered with attention to the human element
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
  • Diligent and firm with high ethical standards
  • Experience in hospitality and outdoor recreation is preferred. 
  • Experience working with seasonal employees.
  • Experience working with ADP payroll systems.


Work location

  • Bryson City, NC with occasional travel to our other locations in NC, TN, SC, and GA
