Overview

The Moravian University Bookstore hosts "Historic Haunts Ghost Tours," an hour long, one mile, walking tour on the streets of Downtown Bethlehem. Tour guides will be costumed and lead a group of up to 25 people on a candlelit tour through the heart of Historic Bethlehem weaving tales of paranormal activity, mixed with the history of the area.

Each guide will receive a script and safety information during training. The guide is responsible for memorizing the script and attending practice sessions held weekly during the month of September.

Responsibilities

Expectations:

  • Ability to speak to groups and to project voice sufficiently to allow up to 25 people to hear the information being provided. 
  • Ability to manage time, track the progress of each tour conducted and maintain the one-hour timeline to complete each tour. 
  • Temporary positions require availability to work on a weekly basis for a period of 90 days or less with occasional weekends, and flexibility in scheduling for opening, midday, or closing shifts.

 

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to lead one hour, walking tours through Historic Bethlehem. 
  • Ability to speak and project such that the entire group can hear the information being delivered. 

COVID-19 Considerations:

Our stores comply with all applicable federal, state and local requirements and/or recommendations regarding social distancing and sanitizing. In accordance with individual campus requirements, positions may require confirmation of vaccination. The use of face masks throughout the day and while on campus may also be expected or required.

Qualifications

  • Candidates must be a minimum of 18 years of age to be considered for employment.
  • High-energy, friendly personality, with strong communication skills to interact with a variety of people.

  • Outstanding customer service skills to match customers to products that meet their needs. 
  • Availability to attend training sessions in September and to work Friday and Saturday evenings during the month of October.
