Employment Status: Part-Time

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Pay Rate: $14.55/hr

Experience Required: At least eighteen (18) years of age with some customer service or hospitality experience.

Minimum Education Requirements:Β High School diploma or G.E.D.

Primary Work Location: Zoo Setting both indoors and outdoors.

Job Summary:Β Β Guest services zipline guides are responsible for ensuring the safety and exceptional experience for all zipline guests. Responsibilities include setting stop ropes, tying required knots, assisting guests in proper harness and helmet fitting, demonstrating proper zipping techniques, operating zipline activity, breaking guest’s speed upon incoming approach, performing retrievals and rescues, inspecting equipment, and educating guests about the Oklahoma City Zoo.Β 

Essential Job Functions

An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of the following essential duties:

  • Be extremely knowledgeable of all Zoo attractions, service areas, policies and programs.
  • Daily opening and closing procedures of zipline Course.
  • Supervising the progress and experience of each group.
  • Fitting harness and helmets correctly and supervising the use of all safety equipment.
  • Conducting pre-tour safety orientation for each of the guests.
  • Assuring the safety and wellbeing of guests throughout each ride.
  • Performing course rescues.
  • Conducting complete inspections of all course components and gear.
  • Assisting with course maintenance efforts.
  • Attending required meetings and trainings.
  • Handle financial transactions quickly and accurately.
  • Enforce Zoo’s rules and regulations among guests.
  • Report comments and/or complaints to supervisors quickly.
  • Assist with preparation, arrangement, execution, and dismantling for special events and off-site sales as directed.Β 

Pre-Ride duties:

  • Inspecting all lines for safety.
  • Inspecting each platform for safety, cleanliness, and supplies.
  • Inspecting harnesses, pulleys, carabineers, and helmets for integrity and cleanliness.
  • Assisting with waivers and harness distribution.

Ride duties:

  • Review safety issues and answer questions.
  • Demonstrating how to carry gear and wear safety harness.
  • Attaching guests to the cable and perform essential safety check every time before anyone zips.
  • Zipping to the next landing point demonstrating proper zipping techniques.
  • Assisting with the landing of each participant, ensuring their safety on every approach.
  • Responsible for all gear safety and maintenance, including but not limited to washing, cleaning, sanitizing, and preparing the equipment.
  • Work other assigned positions as needed if Zipline is closed.Β
