Position Summary

 

Seeking an experienced remediation professional to support various groups, performing various environmental services, including field and office work associated with site characterization projects and general environmental compliance and regulatory permitting.

 

This role offers the opportunity to work collaboratively in a multi-disciplined environment on a variety of project types and scales. The candidate will be highly motivated, outgoing, and a resourceful team player to complement our team.

This position will be based out of our Yonkers, NY or Warren, NJ office. Projects and assignments will likely extend across downstate NY and northern NJ.

 

Responsibilities

  • Conduct field work consisting of site assessments/surveys, compliance inspections, sampling of soil/ groundwater/ stormwater/ vapor/ sediments and data gathering activities.
  • Maintain field notes and fieldwork documentation; prepare field sketches and prepare and submit field reports for project manager/client/regulatory review.
  • Assist project team in preparing permit applications and regulatory submittals.
  • Knowledge and/or desire to learn NY, NJ, and federal (e.g. USACE and USEPA) environmental regulatory programs is important.

 

Qualifications

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • A Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science, Environmental Studies, engineering, or related field is required. Master's degree is a plus.
  • 0-3 years of relevant work experience.
  • Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response Standard (HAZWOPER) 40-Hour training certification required. (Training provided if necessary).
  • Skills in MS Word and MS Excel. AutoCAD or ArcGIS experience is a plus.
  • Skills in NYSDEC and NJDEP databases (GeoWeb, Dataminer) is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently; troubleshooting/problem solving skills are a plus.
  • The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic about learning environmental regulations as they apply to brownfield site remediation, spill prevention, stormwater management, air permitting and other site remediation and compliance issues.
  • Frequent travel and/or field work to our clients’ sites within NY and NJ (Valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation required)
  • Ability and willingness to support various groups and manage a variety of parallel tasks.

*The salary range for this position is $55,000 - $81,000.  Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, peer and market data, and geographic location.
