Handex is currently seeking q highly motivated Scientist in Environmental Remediation and Contamination Assessment Services (soil/groundwater sampling and oversight work). This hybrid position will support our New Jersey client sites and be located at our Jackson, NJ location.

What will be my responsibilities and objectives?


· Assist LSRP's and PM's with DOT and Turnpike projects.

· Conduct remediation research, perform data analysis and complete reports.

· Keep abreast of NJ DOT & DEP regulations, SOP’s, guidelines so as to ensure all Handex activities are in compliance.

· On occasion, perform sampling and monitoring, which can include the following: Groundwater sampling, soil sampling, vapor intrusion air sampling, well installation, soil borings, potable well surveys, aquifer testing, and pilot testing.

· Maintain an open line of communications with internal staff and clients as needed.

Requirements


Requirements and skills needed for success:


  

· BS degree in environmental science, geology or hydrogeology required.

· 3 years of experience in contamination assessment and remediation services: research, report writing, documentation, sampling, drilling, field assessment, remedial design, systems operations, and maintenance of equipment and wells and pumps.

· Well versed in NJ DEP & DOT regulations. 

· OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification preferred. If not, we will provide required training to become certified.

· Highly proficient research, technical writing and documentation skills a must.

· Highly proficient IT skills with a variety of software tools including Microsoft Office Suite applications (Excel, Word, etc.). AutoCad knowledge preferred.

· A team player who is organized, detail oriented, self-motivated, willing to learn and take direction that has a can do attitude.

· Excellent interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills, (comfortable in-person, via phone and/or via electronic communications) a must.

· Comfortable being outside in various weather conditions and working on environmental activities (soil/water/vapor).

· Position is hybrid and will require 3 office days located in Jackson, NJ and 2 remote days.

· Willingness to travel to New jersey client sites as needed.

· Valid driver’s license in good standing a must.

· Ability to pass background checks: criminal/physical/drug/alcohol/DMV required.
