The Bower and Del Mar Beach Hotel are looking for a Director of Leisure Sales based in the Coronado/San Diego Market to join the sales team!

In this role, you will be responsible for selling both a luxury and beach property, developing, and soliciting new accounts to positively impact leisure segments, while maintaining relationships with current accounts. Key focus on high value travel advisors, consortia, and Travel outside of the office to meet with customers and prospective customers to develop business, make proposals, negotiate contracts, maintain contacts, conduct site inspections, and close deals. Consistently meet with and entertain customers, conduct property tours, participate in tradeshows and industry and community events to promote facilities and services.



What will I be doing?



As a Director of Leisure Sales, you would be responsible for representing the hotels services and facilities to prospective clients and customers in the hotels continuing effort to deliver outstanding guest service and financial profitability. Specifically, you would be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards:


 


Sales and Relationship Management:



  • Drive sales by establishing and maintaining relationships with luxury travel advisors, leisure travel sales representatives, and consortia.

  • Develop and implement sales strategies to meet and exceed monthly booking targets.

  • Represent the hotel at industry events, networking opportunities, and community engagements.


Guest Experience Curation:



  • Partner with General Manager and Front Desk Manager with regards to reservation management.

  • Coordinate pre-arrival communications with guests to personalize their stay.

  • Prepare and organize unique experiences for guests during their visit, including dining, activities, and local explorations.

  • Ensure a seamless post-visit follow-up to maintain guest satisfaction and loyalty.


Concierge Services:



  • Act as the primary point of contact for guests upon arrival, providing exceptional concierge services.

  • Familiarize yourself with local restaurants, activities, and attractions to secure reservations and curate guest itineraries.

  • Collaborate closely with the General Manager to be the welcoming face of the hotel, fostering a trusted and hospitable environment.


Community and Partner Engagement:



  • Represent the hotel within the community and with travel partners, building a reputation as a trusted and esteemed host.

  • Collaborate with the General Manager to develop and maintain strong community relations.



  • Ability to create personalized and memorable guest experiences.

  • In-depth knowledge of local restaurants, activities, and attractions.

  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.


Major areas of responsibility/ management include, but are not limited to:



  • Direct the identification, sales efforts, and relationships with individual travel producers including Retail travel agents, Consortiums, Wholesalers, Entertainment and Business Travel accounts.

  • Assist in the integration of individual property efforts into the overall Resorts strategy.

  • Direct the efforts to gather and organize relevant competitive information.

  • Establish Leisure and Business Travel Marketing and Action Plans.

  • Establish wholesale, retail, and corporate travel (where appropriate) target lists. Attainment of annual room night and revenue goal for the leisure and business travel market sales program.

  • Initiate contact with perspective business travel industry accounts as identified through direct sales program.

  • Make qualified sales trips and solicit new clients.

  • Represent property at appropriate travel industry tradeshows, conferences, and meetings.

  • Monitor travel industry customers with updates of programs, promotions, and events on behalf of Waldorf Astoria.

  • Review account's production and pattern to determine the appropriate market segment for negotiation.

  • Ensure that travel industry policies and wholesalers are known and adhered to by all hotel and Operations staff.

  • Interact with Sales and Marketing to ensure everyone is updated on new programs, packages and travel industry events that could make for positive public relations coverage in the trade or marketing platforms.

  • Maintain active liaison with competitors regionally and nationally through personal contacts and professional associations.

  • Assist in the integration of individual property efforts into the overall Resorts strategy.


Required Qualifications



  • Minimum Years of Experience: 2-5 years of seasoned sales managerial experience in the hospitality or yachting industry 

  • Additional Requirements (i.e., % of travel time, etc.): 20%

  • Experience in Leisure Sales within a luxury hotel preferred.

  • Most tasks are performed in a team environment with the employee acting as a team leader; there is minimal direct supervision.

  • Ability to communicate customer needs and resolve complaints independently.

  • Ability to establish and master goals.

  • Ability to identify and develop accounts.

  • Must possess computer skills, including, but not limited to, accounting programs, Microsoft Word, Hotel Sales/Reservations Platforms.

  • Social media marketing experience preferred.
