Season Dates:

Pay:
$1,100/Week + Room and Board
About Us:
For over 100 years, we have helped girls develop the skills and confidence they need to blossom into their best selves. From our earliest badges in electricity, aeronautics, and natural sciences to today’s all-girl robotics teams and cookie entrepreneurs, girls have challenged themselves through our skill-building opportunities, worked with inspiring role models, and developed lifelong friendships.
We run three different summer camps. Camp Togowoods is a sleepaway camp outside of Wasilla, Alaska. Camp Singing Hills is a Day Camp in Chugiak. The Community Day Camp program is a one-week day camp in different communities throughout Alaska. We hire three sets of staff to run these camps for the summer. Some leadership is year-round Girl Scout staff, while others are seasonal.
About Camp Togowoods:
At overnight camp, every day is a chance to do something different, meet new people, and challenge yourself. With professional leadership, high-quality staff, and small camper groups with a high counselor-to-camper ratio, overnight camp will feel like a home away from home. Camper groups are generally made up of 8-12 girls and two counselors. Camper groups attend daily activities together. Special care is taken to ensure that each camper is given challenging opportunities along with basic skill-based instruction. Girl Scouts of Alaska overnight camp is at Camp Togowoods in Wasilla.
Girls from across Alaska attend Camp Togowoods every summer. Camp Togowoods is located on more than 400 beautiful acres along the shores of Three Mile Lake near Wasilla. Girl Scouts of Alaska owns the property. It encompasses five ecosystems to explore, including our wetlands boardwalk. All Camp Togowoods campers enjoy arts and crafts, nature hikes, environmental education, swimming, canoeing or kayaking, and outdoor cooking. Campers sleep in platform tents (wooden floors, cots, and mosquito netting), bringing the outdoors within reach. Campers have a sense of independence with the security of counselors living in an adjacent tent.
About the Job:
At Camp Togowoods, the Camp Director is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the camp. The director will train and supervise camp staff. They will oversee programming (everything that happens at camp). They will work with the assistant director to oversee the kitchen, waterfront, wilderness, and general staff operations. They will make decisions to ensure staff and camper safety following the American Camp Association (ACA) and Girl Scouts of Alaska (GSAK) safety policies. They will also ensure an outstanding and engaging girl-led experience for all campers at camp.
We are looking for someone who is committed to making a difference, seeks work with lasting impact, and who wants to help build girls of courage, confidence, and character who make Alaska and the world a better place.
