Do you want to spend a paid summer in Alaska? Join us at Camp K for fun at one of Alaska's most beautiful sleep away camps in Cooper Landing. Just two hours South of Anchorage, our camp is located on the beautiful Kenai Peninsula. No outdoor experience is required, just a love for camp! If you want to build an inclusive and loving community at our camp, this is a perfect job for you! Housing and meals are included for the entire season.

  

PROGRAM OVERVIEW


  • Program: Camp K is an ACA Accredited Summer Residential Youth Co-ed Camp.
  • Location: Camp K is located in Copper Landing, AK on Kenai Lake.
  • Dates: All Staff training begins mid-May. Camp opens to youth in early June and runs through July.
  • Time: Camp K offers 5 day sessions throughout the summer.
  • Staff Shifts: Camp K staff reside on camp premises during all camp sessions. There is personal time between sessions to enjoy the beautiful Alaska Summer. 
  • Activities: While at Camp K youth are provided hiking, boating activities, outdoor games, creative arts, target sports, outdoor living skills and team building. 


POSITION SUMMARY:

 

The Target Sports Core Counselor is responsible for 24-hour supervision of campers in their cabin group. They also provide oversight to the Camp K Target Sports Program, which entails daily instruction of archery, riflery, blow-darts, sling-shots, and atlatl, and ensuring proper guidance and supervision of campers and staff during these activities with campers ages 6-17. In this position you'll be supervising campers in all camp activities including meal times, games, choice activities, and sleeping. You'll gain experience collaborating with program leadership to identify camp needs, develop/implement successful programming, and take part in the evaluations of the programs. Through this position, you'll reside with campers in cabins on the premises of Camp K in the Chugach National Forest with epic beauty right outside your cabin door! 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Prior experience working with youth, preferably in an overnight camp setting.
  • Current Adult/Pediatric CPR, AED & First Aid Certification, required.
  • Prior experience in target sports instruction, including lesson planning, is required
  • Current Archery or Riflery Certification issued by a nationally recognized provider, is preferred.
  • Wilderness First Aid Certification from a nationally recognized provider, is required, or ability to attend a certification course once hired (WFA will be offered during pre-camp training through Camp Fire).
  • Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age (21 preferred), required to maintain compliance with regulatory and accrediting agencies.
