Camp Counselor

Works under the direction of Parks & Recreation staff organizing Camp activities.

• Supervises activities for children. 
• Plans, organizes and implements daily recreational and art & crafts activities. 
• Monitors the interpersonal relationships among campers and facilitates the resolution of conflicts that may arise. 
• Maintains accident reports, disciplinary actions, daily reports and attendance records on campers. 
• Responsible for the overall well-being and safety of campers.

The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related or a logical assignment for this classification.  Other duties may be required or assigned.

High School graduate or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma. Some prior experience leading activities for children.

• Ability to learn Village policies and procedures as well as location of various Village facilities. 
• Good oral and written communication skills. 
• Ability to organize and implement recreational activities. Ability to work well with children of all ages. 
• Ability to effectively interface with campers, supervisors, co-workers and the general public. 
• Ability to comply with and accept directions from supervisors.
• Ability to maintain calm and order in an emergency situation.
