Birthday Party Host

Birthday Parties are an amazing way to introduce kids into the sport of climbing! Our goal is to take care of all aspects of the party and provide a fun, space environment for kids to learn to climb while parents can breathe and enjoy the party. Aspect of the job include: 

• Set-up and clean-up birthday party room/supplies
• Supervise and engage with groups of 10-15  (ages 3+)
• Top-rope belaying for participants
• Facilitate games and interactive activities
• Ensure participants’ safety by enforcing Momentum policies in a friendly and professional manner
• Interact with parents and guests to provide excellent customer service
• Assess participants' skill levels and provide appropriate support

Ensure climbers use rental or personal gear in accordance with gym policies and manufacturer specifications

Qualifications:

• At least 2 years of climbing experience with a strong enthusiasm for climbing
• Comfortable working with children ages 3-18
• Previous experience in coaching, programming, or facilitation is a plus, but not required
• Ability to prioritize the needs of participants and create a safe, fun environment
• Ability to maintain professional conduct while engaging with children, parents, and other staff members
• Excellent time management, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to empathize and communicate effectively with children, parents, and staff

Environmental and Physical Demands

• Able to work in a loud, high-energy environment on a regular basis
• Comfortable speaking in front of and providing instruction to large groups
• Comfortable working at height and moving up and down a climbing wall
• Must be able to climb confidently and safely to heights to perform rescues
• Able to stand, walk, and work on unstable and uneven surfaces for long periods
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs on a regular basis

Hours and Availability

• Work a minimum of 2-3 Saturdays/month with shifts ranging from 3-6 hours depending on number of parties booked

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

• $14.00/hour
