Position: Associate Creative Director
Department: Creative for all of Beauty
Work Location: Boston, MA, Hybrid (work 3 days onsite)
Hybrid Schedule: Helen of Troy associates enjoy the advantages and flexibility of a hybrid working model, allowing for in office 3 days minimum, and remote 2 days. Any changes to this working model would be communicated accordingly.
What you will be doing:
Conceptualizes, plans, and crafts creative concepts and approaches that align with a target audience. Participates in marketing and production meetings to determine needs and develop design strategies from concept to completion. Assists and develops creative projects, working with specifications, budget constraints, scheduling requirements, reviewing, and approving proofs of printed materials in a timely manner.
Develops creative concepts and approaches that will appeal to a target audience by using trend reports, color theories, artistic skill/talent, typography, aesthetic appeal, design objectives, photography, illustration, and other elements that require an artistic approach.
Participates in marketing and design meetings to determine needs and develop strategies to achieve a focused creative approach.
Coordinates with resources necessary to optimally complete projects based on sales and marketing and corporate directives.
Helps in supervising artistic approaches developed by staff members specific to the overall objectives set forth by marketing.
Identifies design trends, technologies, applications, graphic approach, illustration, pre- production art, desktop publishing, desktop video, pre-press, image retouching, packaging support materials, trends, and fine art approach.
Provides technical advice and mentorship with associates, copywriters, marketing, and/or printing representatives on design and technical graphics issues.
Assists photoshoots by providing creative feedback to Designers.
Works closely with Project Managers to ensure projects adhere to predetermined schedules and parameters and communicates changes in scope of project or deviation from schedule.
Receives very little direction and participates in independent creative work.
Provides mentorship to direct report(s). Leads by example by being a “hands-on” creative.
Helps to promote a culture of creativity, excellence, accountability, and results.
Skills needed to be successful in this role:
Experience in the Beauty industry
Proven experience managing and leading a large team of graphic designers is essential
Strong experience developing storyboards and assisting in video shoots and is essential, along with a solid understanding of digital channels for eCommerce
Seasoned Design skills including drawing, sketching, artistic vision, fine art knowledge, layout design, printing processes, typography, color theories, research strategies, illustration, pre-production, pre-press, image retouching
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Excellent management, project management, teamwork, multi-tasking, and time management skills
Excellent organizational skills and presentation skills
Excellent teamwork skills
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree
7+ years’ experience in Graphic Design, Package Design, Ecommerce channels, and experience in the Beauty Industry
Strong knowledge of graphic software programs, such as Adobe Creative Suite, consumer products experience and/or strong knowledge of packaging and print production
Extensive knowledge with Design Direction, Microsoft office and Adobe Creative Suite and Figma
Authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis
