Job Summary:
The Assistant Marketing Director will play a pivotal role in driving the strategic planning and execution of national and regional marketing initiatives. This position will lead a team of marketing professionals, ensuring effective communication, alignment with company goals, and seamless collaboration between the marketing and operations teams. The role will focus on member acquisition, retention, and brand awareness through managing and executing innovative promotional strategies and campaigns.
What you’ll be doing:
1. Leadership and Strategic Direction:
- Provide strategic direction and leadership to the regional marketing team, empowering them to develop and execute localized marketing plans aligned with national strategies and company goals
- Cultivate a culture of continuous learning and growth by mentoring and coaching team members, offering guidance, support, and constructive feedback
2. Communication and Collaboration:
- Communicate and deliver clear messages to ensure company goals are effectively conveyed to direct reports, marketing leadership team, and cross departmentally
- Build and maintain strong relationships with gym operations, serving as the glue between operations and marketing to support the roll-out of initiatives, campaigns, and promotions
- Partner with the Event Professional to support promotion and enhance event visibility and engagement
3. Project Management and Execution:
- Oversee the strategic planning, execution, and timeline management of annual marketing campaigns, ensuring effective cross-departmental collaboration and successful execution across all platforms, including social media, website, and content creation
- Implement and optimize promotional and merchandising strategies to drive member acquisition, online sales, enhance customer engagement, and improve product visibility, supporting seasonal promotions, special events, flash sales, and both national and regional campaigns
- Collaborate with the Senior Marketing Director, Growth Director, Senior Director of Sales, Creative Director, and other stakeholders to develop campaigns that drive business growth and achieve company goals
4. Data-Driven Decision Making:
- Analyze sales data, customer behavior, and market trends to evaluate the effectiveness of promotions and merchandising strategies. Use insights to make data-driven decisions, optimize product placement, and adjust promotional tactics
- Foster a data-driven culture within the marketing team, developing KPIs and ensuring the use of analytics and insights to inform decision-making and optimize campaign performance
- Strategize with programs and operations teams to analyze campaign effectiveness and adapt strategies as needed
5. Creativity and Innovation:
- Collaborate with Creative Director, contributing to campaign vision and development, bringing creative ideas and strategic insights to the table
- Work closely with the marketing team to execute impactful marketing campaigns and promotions, both in-gym and online
6. Public Relations:
- Support and coordinate public relations activities by partnering with PR agency to create content for press releases, internal messaging, and marketing materials.
- Act as the liaison for the PR team, handling media inquiries, interviews, and press events, while also serving as a bridge between departments to ensure consistent messaging and alignment of goals
Job Requirements:
- 7+ years of marketing experience, with 3+ years managing a team of 5 or more direct reports
- Experience in building and maintaining strong relationships with various teams, particularly operations, to support the roll-out of initiatives, campaigns, and promotions
- Experience building successful multi-platform marketing promotions
- Ability to foster a data-driven culture, leveraging analytics and insights to inform decision-making and optimize campaign performance
- Ability to mentor and coach team members, providing guidance, support, and constructive feedback
- Experience in managing project timelines and facilitating cross-departmental collaboration
- Ability to communicate effectively and deliver clear messages to ensure company goals are conveyed
- Strong creative thinking skills and the ability to contribute to campaign vision and development
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, balance multiple tasks, and adhere to hard deadlines while maintaining excellent attention to detail
- This is a predominantly remote position with travel to gyms required
- Knowledge and experience in the rock climbing, fitness, and/or outdoor industry is a plus

Compensation: $90,000-$110,000 base (depending on location/experience) + bonus potential
