Community Information
Choteau is a beautiful “small town” Montana community, located 20 minutes from the Rocky Mountain Front with direct local access to Benchmark Wilderness and Bob Marshall Wilderness and just over an hour from Glacier Park!  It provides amply for great outdoor adventures in all seasons including camping, hiking, horseback riding, water and snow skiing, including a local ski hill – Teton Pass, rock and ice climbing, boating, off-road motorsports, upland bird, waterfowl, and big game hunting. Teton County has approximately 6,500 residents and the community of Choteau is home to approximately 1,800. The Choteau school system includes elementary, junior high, and high school with a total of approximately 370 enrolled students per year, who receive well-rounded education with a myriad of extracurricular activities and sports. The community affords a friendly atmosphere, with great people, and offers a great quality of life.  For additional shopping and airport access, Choteau is close to various other cozy small communities and is a 50-minute commute to the larger urban community of Great Falls, offering additional restaurants, shopping, and fun, in addition to an airport with direct flights via United, Alaska, Delta and Allegiant to Seattle, Salt Lake, Denver, Minneapolis, Chicago (seasonally), Las Vegas, and Phoenix.  Perhaps Choteau’s most significant “selling point” other than being a caring community, is that it is a very safe environment, where its residents can live comfortably and relaxed, and children can attend school focused on their educations and interests.  In this digital age, Choteau is across the street from practically anything.
