Adaptive Camp Counselor


Bretton Woods Recreation Center is seeking Camp Counselors for Adventure Camp. This is a great opportunity to be a part of an organization that believes our team members are our most important resource and therefore takes great pride in selecting individuals that help us to achieve our mission.


The Team Building and Outdoor Experiential Education will lead a variety of outdoor and adventure-based programs. Activities and programs include, but are not limited, to canoeing, high- and low- ropes course elements, tubing, stand-up paddle boarding, as well as experiential learning activities including rocket building, go carts building, nature crafts, and environmental education.


Reports to: Summer Camp Director


Supervises: None


Essential Functions



  • Set up activities for the day.

  • Welcome campers with positive energy.

  • Ensures that safety, fun, and education are priorities for all activities.

  • Monitor campers during outdoor activities.

  • Coordinate closely with the Camp Director, Adventure Camp Director, and other staff.

  • Teach camp counselors and campers proper safety procedures.

  • Maintain safety standards and compliance.

  • Complete additional tasks as assigned.


Requirements



  • CPR and First Aid certification preferred or willing to obtain.

  • Experience teaching or leading outdoor skills/activities.

  • Experience in outdoor activities preferred but not required.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Able to work with all ages.

  • Must be flexible, positive, and can work in a team-oriented environment.

  • Able to work under pressure and focus on multiple tasks while maintaining high quality standards.

  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment where change and improvement is always present.

  • Must have reliable transportation (no access to public transportation).

  • Be available to be a bus counselor.


 


Physical Demands and Work Environment



  • Lift, carry, pull, and push up to 75 pounds.

  • Work outdoors in all weather conditions.

  • Comfortable working at heights.

  • Comfortable in personal watercraft (tube, canoe, stand-up paddle board, and kayak).
