As an Assistant District Wildlife Biologist (Natural Resource Specialist 2) in Prineville, you will conducts necessary wildlife management activities which include wildlife population inventory, planning, damage control, habitat protection and multiple interactions with public, private landowners, state and federal land managers.

    Duties include: Conduct biological surveys on various species of wildlife including big game, waterfowl, and upland game birds, furbearers, and nongame wildlife Wildlife habitat protection and enhancement Analyze land use documents from private, county, state and federal agencies Captures wildlife for tagging and/or relocation Receives and responds to wildlife damage complaints Provides a wide variety of information regarding wildlife management programs to the public Prepares weekly and monthly reports, and writes project summary reports Measure trends in numbers and hunter success Collect Tissue Samples The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed.

    ARE LOOKING FOR Minimum

    Qualifications:

    Option 1: Two years of biological

    experience:

    • performing studies, research, or resource management activities in a fish or wildlife program that included one year of at least two of the following: gathering data, analyzing data, or preparing reports, AND a Bachelor's degree in Fisheries or Wildlife Science, or a closely related Bachelor’s degree with at least 45 quarter (30 semester) hours of biological/ecological coursework; OR three additional years of biological

    experience:

    • performing studies, research, or resource management activities in a fish or wildlife program; -OR- Option 2: One year biological

    experience:

    • performing studies, research, or resource management activities in a fish or wildlife program that included at least two of the following: gathering data, analyzing data, or preparing reports, AND a Master's degree Fisheries or Wildlife Science, or a closely related Master’s degree in biological/ecological sciences; -OR- Option 3: A Doctorate degree in Fisheries or Wildlife Science, or a closely related Doctorate degree in biological/ecological sciences.
