Hiring Agency: Game & Parks Commission - Agency 33 Location: Lincoln, NE Hiring Rate: $25.003 Job Posting: JR2025-00020597 G&P Fish & Wildlife Biologist II (Open) Applications No Longer Accepted On (If no date is displayed, job is posted as open until closed): 11-17-2025 Job Description: Under the direction of the Rivers and Streams Program Manager, assist with coordination and implementation of rivers and streams programs (e.g. Cool Water Stream Management Plan, Aquatic Habitat Program, Natural Legacy Project) and monitor, protect and enhance fish communities and aquatic habitats statewide. Collect, develop, and implement the completion of fish data collection in the field and analysis. Include assessment and investigation surveys of both abiotic and biotic parameters to support further understanding of functioning rivers and streams statewide. Collaborate with landowners, contracted consultants, and other government agencies, to deliver technical expertise. Monitor the status and perform maintenance and calibration of equipment. Assist with design and implementation of aquatic habitat improvement projects. Attend/present latest research findings at meetings/conferences. Work closely with the academic faculty and students grant funded projects. Prepare technical reports and maintain records. Complete other duties as assigned. Requirements / Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in fish or wildlife management or closely related field or equivalent experience in the field of biological science AND three years’ experience in fish or wildlife management or a closely related field; OR Master's degree in fish or wildlife management or closely related field or equivalent experience in the field of biological science AND one year experience in fish and wildlife management or a closely related field. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES: Extensive knowledge of ecological processes within fluvial systems, fish life history traits, research, statistics, databases and record keeping systems; and conservation statutes and regulations as they relate to fisheries management. Solid computer skills, especially Microsoft Office applications, Geographic Information Systems (Survey 123, Field Maps). Ability to communicate adequately with coworkers and partners; set goals and objectives, perform heavy physical labor and work outdoors for long periods of time; operate boats, motors, nets and electrofishing gear; work with little supervision; develop and maintain professional relations with a broad range of agencies and publics. *NOTE: Requires work under adverse weather conditions and the potential for extensive overnight lodging.
