Purpose: The purpose of the Ski Patrol Supervisor is to:
The Ski Patrol Supervisor will assist the Ski Patrol Manager and Assistant Managers in supervising the Ski Patrol Department in all aspects of the YC Ski Patrol Operations as outlined in the Ski Patrol Manual and the Duties and Responsibilities below. The Ski Patrol Supervisor should be able to perform all YC Ski Patrol duties as written in the Ski Patrol job description. In the Manager’s and Assistant Manager’s absence, the Supervisor will supervise and manage the Ski Patrol staff following ski patrol policies and procedures.
Major Responsibilities
- Ensure that each member and guest receives outstanding guest service in a guest friendly environment which includes greeting and acknowledging every member and guest, maintaining outstanding service standards, solid product knowledge and all other components of guest service.
- Empowered to guarantee total guest satisfaction, display hospitality and professionalism to our guests at all times, take pride in representing Yellowstone Club professionally with our members and guests and assure that all transactions with guests are handled in a legal and ethical manner.
- Understand and apply all property safety and security procedures to maintain a secure and safe environment for employees, members, and guests at all times. In the event of an accident or emergency, seek medical attention if necessary and contact the General Manager or Human Resources immediately.
- Maintain a favorable working relationship with all company employees to foster and promote a positive working environment.

- Slope Safety
Help manage a consistent signage, fencing, hazard marking and padding program;
Understands and helps implement a risk management policy meeting YC insurance company and industry standards;
May interact with grooming department to assess slope conditions;
Assists Snow Safety department in implementing avalanche control and avalanche hazard assessment.
- Maintenance
Maintain inventories and direct maintenance of all ski patrol equipment, including uniforms, radios, toboggans, signage, pads, and patrol facilities.
- Medical
Assists in developing a strong EMS program providing CE hours, documentation, and certification for NR EMT, Montana EMT, CPR, and NSP and OEC;
Inventories medical equipment and supplies;
Oversee mountain placement of medical gear and organization of the first aid room.
Maintains required Incident Report records.
- Training
Assists in the development of a season long skills improvement program, as well as a strong mentoring program, to create a highly skilled and motivated patrol team;
Assists patrol duties which include training and documentation of chairlift evacuations, first aid, sweeps, toboggan handling, communications, and snowmobile use;
- Personnel Management
Excellent interpersonal skills which include: The ability to build and maintain effective professional rapport with everyone on the team. A history of being trustable with sensitive information, maintaining positive perspective with and of others, and supporting and collaborating for shared growth. Ability to customize verbal and non-verbal communication to serve needs of the program, team, and individuals involved while including awareness of desires of the program, team, and individuals involved. Ability to collaborate with all other team members with a variety of skills and experience. Demonstrates a high degree of self-awareness. Navigate interpersonal conflict respectfully and efficiently.
- Administrative
Compiles and retains medical, IIT, and other incident records;
Regular communication with Ski Patrol and Snow Safety Managers;
Maintains employee records;
Assist with scheduling.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
- Supervises daily on-mountain activities and operations.

- Must be able to work flexible work hours/schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays. Long hours may be required due to business demands.
- Possessing and then maintaining the qualifications and skills of a YC Ski Patroller;
- As time and conditions permit, assist the ski patrol in daily operations such as run checks, medical emergencies, shoveling, and sweeps.
- Operate Yellowstone Club motor vehicles, equipment and snowmobiles for safe and efficient transportation and work needs.
- Enforce operational, maintenance, and safety rules;
- Foster excellent member and guest relations and provide top quality service;
- Pursue proficiency in all aspects of managing skills;
- Maintain effective communication to ensure effective inter-departmental relations to ensure a harmonious mountain operation for members, guests, and employees.
- Comply with all Yellowstone Club policies and procedures and assure that all subordinate employees do the same.

Experience/Education Required
High school diploma, GED or vocational training or job-related course work required.
A minimum of four years of professional ski patrol experience at a class A, or equivalent, Ski Resort. A minimum of one to two years in a leadership or supervisory role.
Experience/Education Preferred
BA or BS from a 4 year accredited university
Certificates & Licenses
Valid State Driver’s License, NREMT, MT State EMT, ATF&E Employee Possessor
