The Adventure Team Lead will supervise the Ropes, Nature & Discovery, and Archery activity counselors and support them in the creation of age-appropriate, adaptive programming for campers aged 8-17 years old. They are responsible for adhering to policies and procedures at all times while creating a vibrant atmosphere conducive to creating a positive work environment for all seasonal staff. This staff member will also assist with the teen Outpost evening program, an overnight camping experience for our oldest campers.
Team Overview:
The Program Team brings the camp experience to life by creating programs, building community, and ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all camp participants. The team creates accessible and developmentally appropriate programs and recruits, processes, and supports a large team of volunteers and seasonal staff. In adherence with laws and camp governing bodies; they develop, plan and implement camp emergency procedures and policies.
Responsibilities:
Attend Seasonal Staff Training (May 18-29, 2026)
Attend High Risk Certification & Leadership Training (May 11-15, 2026) required;
ACCT Ropes Training (TBD) preferred
Provide feedback, support, and formal evaluations to each team member throughout the summer
Collaborate with the medical and psychosocial team to ensure programs are meeting the needs of all campers
Fill role(s) on emergency staffing table as needed
Collaborate with the Program Coordinator to review Program Specialist plans and support the intentional design and implementation of outcome-driven programming in assigned areas
Support the Adventure Team in the modification and adaptation of activities in response to weather and to meet medical, psychosocial, accessibility, and other camper needs to ensure an inclusive experience
Enforce all adventure program safety rules
Ensure all equipment and supplies are safely stored, inspected, and maintained
Assist the Cabin Life team with maintaining appropriate supervision of campers, including providing overnight coverage in cabins as needed
Requirements
Required Skills, Qualifications & Experience
Ability to move across camp grounds and between buildings and activity areas multiple times each day
Ability to coordinate a multi-faceted program for campers aged 8-17 years with varying physical and developmental abilities
Ability to perform job functions outside during summer months (humidity, heat, rain)
Responsible for the safety and supervision of all participants in their care
Demonstrated excellent written and oral communication skills
Ability to live on site
Hold certifications in, or attend trainings for all high risk programs (on site trainings will occur between May 11 - May 15)
Ability to follow written and oral instructions
Ability to support with program set up and tear down (including movement of materials up to 50 lbs.)
Demonstrated problem-solving and conflict resolution skills with children and adults
Preferred Skills, Qualifications & Experience
Previous experience supervising high risk programs
Prior outdoor education, high ropes, or archery experience
