    Organization Summary

    The Center for Nutrition & Health Impact (CNHI) is a nonprofit research institute providing expertise in measurement and evaluation to help develop, enhance and expand programs focused on healthy eating and active living, improving food security and healthy food access, and promoting local food systems. With expertise in public health nutrition, we are dedicated to building measurement strategies to assess the impact of innovative health-related programs. We work nationally and internationally, partnering with other nonprofits, academia, government and private foundations to conduct research, evaluation and scientific strategic planning.     Job Summary

    The Marketing & Communications Manager oversees the Center for Nutrition & Health Impact’s marketing strategy and team to facilitate greater awareness of the Center.

    Job Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Contribute to the development of the marketing strategy and execute key elements such as brand design, public relations, and external communication.
    • Serve as a supervisor, including motivating, guiding, developing, and providing feedback and recognition to direct reports.
    • Manage marketing projects by identifying opportunities, planning projects, delegating tasks, and reviewing outputs/deliverables.
    • Collaborate with staff on large- and small-scale projects to ensure content is effectively disseminated via various marketing channels.
    • Lead the analysis and strategic application of digital marketing data while delegating routine data collection and reporting tasks to marketing associates.
    • Write copy for websites, newsletters, one pagers, press releases, and other communication pieces.
    • Craft strategic messaging for target audiences that is tailored to their needs and knowledge base.
    • Correspond with strategic growth committee members to develop strategies, facilitate meetings, and ensure alignment.
    • Attend Board of Director’s meetings and provide a marketing report.
    • Identify new business opportunities by developing relationships with like-minded organizations.
    • Foresee opportunities for networking and relationship building and make connections.
    • Support internal projects by attending design and planning sessions, reviewing documents, and creating/reviewing branded deliverables.
    • Oversee external design projects by translating scientific findings and technical content into compelling, audience-appropriate PowerPoint presentations, electronic reports, and other assets for funders, stakeholders, and public audiences.
    • Liaise with project teams to ensure marketing supports brand consistency, organizational goals, and complies with accessibility/legal standards.
    • Other tasks as assigned.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Associate’s degree in marketing, advertising, journalism, or related field.
    • Three years of experience performing marketing tasks, such as brand management, public relations, copy writing, and website development and maintenance.
    • Experience in public health and/or nutrition
    • Proficient in Reader, Photoshop, social media platforms, InDesign, and website development tools (Squarespace, Umbraco, etc.).
    • Proficient in CRM and marketing automation platforms, such as Sprout and Mailchimp. Familiarity with analytics platforms like Google Analytics or Salesforce is a plus.
    • Strong management skills; experience leading people and making strategic decisions.
    • Creative and innovative thinker.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • High level of attention to detail and ability to problem solve.
    • Strong organizational, planning, and time management skills.
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment.
    • Demonstrated experience creating PowerPoint presentations that synthesize complex data for multiple audiences.
    • Proficient in other Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, and Outlook) and virtual meeting platforms (e.g., Zoom).

    • Follow care and security standards for Center for Nutrition & Health Impact-issued equipment
    • Supply your own Internet connection which allows for seamless communication for video conferencing

    • The employee is required to be able to complete light to moderate lifting

    Job Type This is a full-time, remote position.

    Travel This position may include travel for client visits, conference attendance, other promotional or networking activities, and the annual all-staff retreat.
