The Camp Counselor at Camp Take-A-Break is responsible for providing extended weekend supervision of children adopted through foster care, established by The Baby Fold’s Post-Adoption Services department. This 3rd shift role requires the Camp Counselor to work between Friday evening and Sunday afternoon, one to two times per month, year-round.


WORK SCHEDULE: Friday evening to Sunday afternoon,  8-16 weekends per year


PAY: $16.85+/hour, up to $18/hour for overnight shift - part time, hourly/exempt


LOCATION: East Bay Camp, Hudson, IL 


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:



  • Supervision of Children: Models and maintains high health and safety standards; communicates and models appropriate behavior, language and hygiene; structures and intervenes in individual and group dynamics to promote growth and self-esteem in children.  Will be working with adopted children with behavioral and/or emotional issues.


 


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:



  1. Must be 21 years of age or older.

  2. Minimum one year experience working with children, preferably ages 5 - 14

  3. Willingness and ability to work evenings and weekends only, 8-10 weekends per year, including overnight.

  4. Demonstrated competence in serving a culturally diverse population. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a diverse workforce.

  5. Physical ability to maintain the safety and well being of children for whom there is responsibility, including the physical ability to implement The Baby Fold’s approved physical crisis intervention procedures.
