Do you want to help transform product and business strategy to drive us to the next level? Winnebago Outdoors is seeking a VP, Product Portfolio Strategy. This role can be based in Forest City, IA or Eden Prairie, MN with regular travel to Forest City. 

This position will be responsible for developing and leading the product development vision & roadmap based on business strategy and current/future technologies aligned to Winnebago consumer needs. A successful candidate will help us drive thought leadership and establish direction of a multi-year global portfolio growth by creating and implementing the overall strategy for four Winnebago product lines, based on VOC and market needs. This role will also lead the organization through the adoption of horizontal processes such as Category Business Plan Development and 5-year product planning.  

Key Areas of Responsibility:

  • Responsible for multi-year product and portfolio strategy including new product platforms, product life-cycle optimization, P&A strategy, vehicle connectivity and electrification.
  • Work across the organization to implement product vision and drive multi-functional integration of knowledge related to marketing, technology and product development. 
  • Improve and expand consumer-focused product management processes and manage development and execution across the product lifecycle.  
  • Partner with Marketing to gather Voice of Customer information insight, address market innovations and evaluate the competitive landscape to define the go-to-market strategy. 
  • Utilize consumer and market data analytics to influence product design and create trade-off between product development cost and end-user experience.
  • Lead execution of strategic 5-year product roadmap in collaboration with Advanced Technology Group, supply chain and external partners.
  • Lead electrification strategy working closely with the Director of EV Engineering.
  • Lead a team of Product Management Directors over Class A/B/C/Smart RV and electrification development.
  • Responsible for strategic leadership, output and long-range planning and overall responsibility for the management and growth of all Product Development team members. 
  • Provide timely and insightful business analysis and recommendations to senior executives and prioritize products to exceed revenue/margin targets and market share expansion
  • Collaborate with sales/marketing to develop value-based product positioning for customer segments and provide marketing collateral; including, product features, attributes and benefits to streamline product launch and Go-to-Market for optimal results. Provide key leadership over the product positioning, key benefits, and target customer. 
  • Develop and implement KPIs to validate effectiveness of strategies and provide future need-based direction.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree: MBA preferred.
  • 15 – 20 years of experience leading both strategic initiatives and product development teams
  • Ideally experienced working on an OEM Platform or indirectly for an automotive supplier
  • Proven ability to understand the operation and drivers of profitability for dealer service models and OEM service models.
  • Strong Voice of Customer and Market trend experience. This includes understanding, measuring and positively increasing the customer experience while using our products and/or engaging with our company.
  • Broad scope Category Management experience
  • Experience with global product launches and alternative energy products and systems which can support current and future WRV product and service offerings.
  • Proficiency in engaging and influencing large teams and functional leaders.
  • Proven experience leveraging a strong collaborative leadership style to drive change across multiple organizational levels, functions, locations, and dotted line reporting relationships.
  • Success in building new functions within an existing business and culture.
  • Experience in linking business strategies and results with financials; high level of preparedness to analyze, discuss and support thesis/analysis with site and executive leadership.
  • Ability to travel as needed.
