Position Details


The Campground Host volunteer duties shall include a minimum of the following:

  • Greet campers and assign sites as available.
  • Check to see that drop in campers have registered.
  • Communicate with Parks staff regarding reserved camp sites and day camp.
  • Mediate any conflicts with campers and camp sites.
  • Place “Campsite Reserved” signs in advance of campers.
  • Open and close front gate and campground gate at assigned times.
  • Provide oversight and supervisory assignments of those entering and exiting the campground.
  • Report to parks staff any maintenance and repair issues as they arise.
  • Provide minor maintenance and repair work as needed.
  • Mow grass in campsites when vacant, as needed (mower provided by City)
  • Be knowledgeable and enforce all park rules and be observant of activities within the campground.
  • When on duty, be on-site during check out and check in times as well as evenings.
  • When on duty, be on site during weekends and holidays.
  • Complete walk thru of campground for trash collection and fire pit checks.
Additionally, the volunteer will be required to perform some or all of the following: speak appropriately and respectfully to individuals of different ages and backgrounds, physically able to walk or hike on uneven outdoor surfaces, carry up to 50 pounds for short distances, bend and twist at the waist, use hands to perform and complete the above tasks in a timely manner’ meet the time commitments required to successfully complete all tasks, and show initiative in job responsibilities.
 
The Volunteer will not conduct any type of vehicle maintenance repairs on site, use any City equipment for their personal benefit, consume any type of alcohol, tobacco, or drug use while on duty, or engage in any offensive conduct or use of profanity, will not display any signs, decals, bumper stickers, posters, or any expression of speech toward any political or religious view point while volunteering for the City.
 
The City will provide, for Volunteer’s use, the following:

  1. Recreational Vehicle (RV) pad site located at the entrance to Game Farm Wilderness Campground.
  2. Utilities to include electrical, septic, water, and  garbage services of the campground.
The City will also provide a $200.00 per month stipend.

The Volunteer is responsible for any and all other utilities and services not specifically provided for by the City such as, but not limited to, internet, phone and cable services.


Primary Duties


  • In conjunction with the second camp host, provide an on-duty camp host 7 days a week including weekends and holidays.
  • Coordinate balanced schedule to evenly split host duties.
  • Work as a team to provide excellent customer service to campers and visitors.
  • Maintain camp sites and report maintenance concerns to staff.
  • Ensure dop-in campers have paid and registered.
  • Enforce campground rules.



Minimum Qualifications


  • Valid WA drivers license
  • 18 years old

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous campground host experience
  • 2 years customer service experience
