Position: Sr. Manager, Facilities and Maintenance

Work Location: Arlington, TN. 100% Onsite

What you will be doing:

This strategic role provides leadership and direction for all facility and maintenance related items associated with building infrastructure, grounds keeping, utilities, production equipment and automation within the Helen of Troy Network.

The Sr. Manager, Facilities and Maintenance is accountable for activities and projects within scope of these responsibilities at multiple sites in the Greater Memphis, TN area. The position is responsible for planning, organizing, developing, and handling the overall facilities and maintenance organization in accordance with current federal, state, and local regulations and established company policies and procedures.

  • Responsible for the strategic and tactical performance of facilities management, building maintenance and operational equipment for all sites. Directs activities include new facilities planning and construction as well as any changes to existing facilities.

  • Ensure building services, production equipment, automation and general operating environment is maintained to optimum levels while improving uptime for the fulfillment centers.

  • Develop and maintain a spare parts inventory system and preventive maintenance program that allows the fulfillment operation to meet customer demands and maintain an outstanding cost structure.

  • Develop and handle the facilities operating budget including utilities, housekeeping, maintenance & repair and facilities upkeep. Establish and run an annualized capital budget that aligns with both near-term and strategic business needs.

  • Recruit and develop the next generation of department leaders, with an emphasis on building bench strength and succession planning.

  • Proactively lead team and individual performance of direct and indirect reports at all levels within areas of responsibility. Work with Site Human Resources in preparing talent development and performance improvement plans.

  • Provide trouble-shooting techniques and participate on the floor in addressing equipment issues; makes sound decisions as it pertains to equipment related malfunctions and provides direction to team when needed.

  • Work closely with business leaders regarding forecasts to anticipate current and future facility and equipment modifications required to maintain cost effective operations and remain within building codes and OSHA requirements.

  • Create and modify operator manuals, standard operating procedures, and troubleshooting guides

  • Evaluate current and forecasted business needs to assist with capacity planning and synergies opportunities for warehouse and office locations within the network.

  • Work closely with Operations, Engineering Services, IT and other departments to improve efficiency, capacity and quality for the business.

  • Ensures compliance with all applicable safety and environmental regulations affecting new and existing equipment, offices, building and grounds. Works closely with Corporate Safety and Security organization to align strategies and outcomes.

  • Maintain a clean, sanitary, and safe work environment through prevention, safety education and awareness, problem correction, improved employee training, and communication to all levels.

  • Responsible for handling contracts and performance with vendors and contractors. Solicits RFPs and negotiates contracts that ensure cost competitiveness and high levels of service.

  • Perform other duties and special projects assigned by the VP, Supply Chain Operations and Technology.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or demonstrated equivalent experience and expertise.

  • 5+ years of leadership experience in facilities and maintenance within an automated distribution center, overseeing both technical and non-technical personnel.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Familiarity with building controls automation software.

  • Experience using MP2 or similar maintenance management software.

  • Strong technical background in designing and maintaining warehouse automation equipment, including but not limited to:

    • Conveyor systems and controls

    • Automated storage and retrieval systems (ASRS)

    • Pick-to-Light systems

    • PANDA and vision systems

    • Automated packaging machines

    • Human-Machine Interfaces (HMI)

    • Shop floor control systems

  • Ability to work in and around production equipment in a warehouse setting, including navigating multiple levels via stairs and lift equipment.

  • Ability to travel as needed (10-25%).

  • Availability to work overtime, weekends, and on-call shifts as needed.

  • Authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering – (Electrical or Mechanical)

  • Expert in AutoCAD.

  • Certified Facility Manager (CFM) or equivalent credentials.
