 Job Title: Shop Hand

Location: Grande Prairie, AB

Work Schedule: 10/4

The Shop Hand will play a key role in keeping the shop and yard organized, stocked and maintained to allow efficient day to day maintenance operations.  Activities include general housekeeping tasks within the yard and shop, maintaining and servicing facility resources, maintaining stock (reorder and restock), deliveries, and other shop/yard tasks as required. While the position will be based out of the shop in Grande Prairie, the successful candidate may  be required to travel to oil and gas completions field locations to deliver supplies or support routine equipment service and maintenance related activities.

 What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Manage the inventory in the shop and ensure that all critical bearings, rollers, electronics and supplies are on hand;
  • Use manuals/documentation to source specific parts, using information from the field to determine necessary parts;
  • Pickup and delivery of parts in town or to field location;
  • Basic mechanical repairs including but not limited to oil changes, bearing replacements, etc.
  • Responsible for shop organization including cleanup and upkeep of the shop and yard
  • Assist operational crews or mechanics in preventative maintenance checks and services.
  • Monitor issues and conduct root cause and trend analysis;
  • Other duties as required.

Who We’re Looking For:

  • Minimum two years’ experience working in a mechanical capacity with exposure to both field and shop work;
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot a variety of equipment related issues;
  • An organized individual able to follow directions/procedures.
  • Self-starter with the ability to proactively manage workload;
  • Additional experience in oilfield, sand or industrial work is an asset;
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written;
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists;
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite;
  • Must be able to meet deadlines and successfully handle time pressures and stress;
  • Ability to hold valid tickets including: H2S, First Aid, Fall Arrest, WHMIS, TDG, Wilderness Awareness
  • Valid Class 5 license (no restrictions) with a clean drivers abstract

  • A mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to work with different personalities
  • Troubleshooting ability with multiple disciplines (hydraulics, electrical, mechanical, etc.)

Nice to Have:

  • First Aid & H2S certifications are not required but are considered an asset
  • Previous exposure to oilfield equipment and maintenance.
