Reporting to the Vice President of Operations, the Sr. Operations Manager mentors and trains supervisors and leads, in all areas of the business, to ensure they are fully capable of running their areas. Ensure that all customer requirements are met including on time delivery and quality. Investigate opportunities for improvements and cost reduction. Sets and measures goals and objectives for the department on a daily, weekly and monthly basis.

What you'll be doing:

  • Monitors and audits safety, production, quality, inventory transactions, etc., to ensure all processes are being followed
  • Mentors supervisor concerning employee relations and daily work issues such as the scheduling of work, overtime needs and requirements and supervising efficiency throughout each department
  • Monitors and assesses Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and Warehouse Control Systems (WCS) to determine efficiency of workflow
  • Identifies inefficiencies in workflow; advising labor adjustments as needed
  • Monitors order queue and ensures balance between replenishment, picking, packing and shipping.
  • Participates in frequent configuration testing of WMS and WCS for efficiencies, post system changes
  • Manage and create transparency to problem orders, in a proactive and timely manner, while working to resolve and communicate issues to partners for assistance
  • Drive Process Improvement initiatives that support Performance Metrics, Wave Planning, Routing and Distribution
  • Recruit and develop the next generation of department leaders, with an emphasis on building bench strength and succession planning
  • Proactively manage team and individual performance of direct and indirect reports at all levels within areas of responsibility. Work with Site Human Resources in preparing talent development and performance improvement plans.
  • Provide trouble-shooting techniques and participate on the floor in addressing process & system issues; makes sound decisions and provides direction to team when needed
  • Collaborate with business leaders regarding forecasts to anticipate current and future system and equipment modifications required to maintain cost effective operations
  • Work closely with Operations, Engineering Services, IT and other departments to improve efficiency, capacity and quality for the business
  • Ensures all customer deadlines and ship windows are met
  • Ensure all Q.A. processes are followed and all orders leave the facility accurately
  • Participates in customer service calls, production meetings, safety meetings, and management meetings
  • Addresses complaints and resolves problems
  • May perform other duties and special projects as assigned by the VP, Operations

Skills needed to be successful in this role:

  • Excellent interpersonal, presentation, project, and time leadership skills
  • Apply sophisticated calculations as related to productivity and throughput of replenishment, picking, packing, and shipping functions
  • Multi-tasking, time management, efficiency, relationship building, and collaboration skills
  • Strong attention to detail and organization

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • 5+ years related experience in leading operations teams
  • Use of Warehouse Control Systems (WCS) and Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) Manhattan WMS experience preferred
  • Proficient with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and Power Point
  • Ability to apply and use analytical tools to determine decisions based on customer expectations
  • Up to 10% travel is required
  • Authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis
