Job Summary
The Senior Director of Construction (SDOC) is responsible for oversight, development and growth of the Project Management and Planning Team within Vail Resorts which has primary oversight of strategic planning and construction projects across all Vail Resort-owned properties. This role is instrumental in ensuring the company's top strategic Capex priorities are successfully planned and executed to align with the company vision, mission and core strategies.  The ideal candidate will be a high-potential leader with strong business acumen and emotional intelligence who has a proven track record of developing teams and processes in the planning and construction space.  This role is also expected to manage complex situations with limited information and is designed for leaders seeking exposure with senior leaders throughout the enterprise, accountability and leadership associated with the organization's most important capital initiatives.

Job Responsibilities
  • Direct complex project execution for resorts across the globe with assessment, tracking and communication of project progress against timelines and budget
  • Develop, maintain, and guide complex project budgets and timelines for resorts locations around the globe Ensure all complex projects operate according to schedule and in support of high-level business objectives
  • Lead a team of professionals through all phases of project development, implementation and completion
  • Develop and track complex project compliance in all aspects of the project with a high level of process controls – including but not limited to contract compliance, change order processes, construction implementation plans, safety and environmental compliance
  • Prepare executive-level presentations and reports illustrating background, conclusions, recommendations, and risks/benefits
  • Demonstrate proactive resolutions through root cause analysis, solution development, evaluation of options and alternatives and recommendation of the best course of action for projects, processes and overall program operations
  • Work in partnership with real estate team on future development projects including acting as owners representation during project construction of real estate projects
  • Collaborate with resorts, mountain leadership, planning team and operational insights leadership for alignment and day-to-day operations.
  • Recommends adjustments to processes to maintain alignment Maintain high qualitative and quantitative standards of work performance across the globe through regional leaders
 
Job Qualifications

Required:
  • Bachelor’s degree in architecture, construction management, or engineering.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial construction and design, along with a demonstrated proficiency in developing new concepts and managing construction internationally.
  • 10+ Years of project management experience with an architecture, construction, or engineering firm.
  • Experience with development on USFS lands.
  • Strong ability to collaborate and communicate with various departments within the organization as well as outside vendors.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead effectively in a complex, multi-functional business environment supporting a variety of initiatives.
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to manage large programs and processes in an expedited manner utilizing technology and corporate reporting tools.
  • Excellent leadership and motivational skills, team building and coaching
  • Review and guide engineering, specs, and scope of projects

The expected pay range starts at $145,300 - $185,870 + annual bonus + equity.  Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience.
