Job Title: Powder Haven Retail and Rental Shop Associate

Status: Full-Time, Seasonal, Non-Exempt Hourly

Reporting To: Manager of Powder Mountain Retail & Rental Department

Job Description:


Powder Haven, Powder Mountain’s private community is looking for polished, customer centric, retail/rental associates. At Powder Haven we are offering an unparalleled guest experience. Only candidates with guest facing and hospitality experience will be considered. 


Retail Associate Role Responsibilities:

  • Welcome guests and create an inviting environment in the retail location.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and well stocked retail floor.
  • Be able operate point-of-sale (Shopify) machine, and conduct cash transactions.
  • Basic knowledge ski/snowboard gear. 
  • Open and close retail location, as well as point-of-sale machine.
  • Basic knowledge of winter clothing, equipment, and be able to offer appropriate gear for current weather conditions.
  • In-depth knowledge of Powder Mountain and Powder Haven terrain and advise on suitable terrain for an exceptional guest experience.
  • Collaborate with Powder Haven staff ensuring an ultimate guest experience.
  • Communicate with Manager/Team Leader on inventory levels.
  • Obtain and maintain applicable alpine binding certifications.
  • Fit guests into appropriately sized boots and skis/snowboards.
  • Inspect rental assets for visible damage and report issues to Management. 
  • Become proficient in use of our rental tech station and POS software.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications Requirements:

  • 18 years of age, or older
  • HS Diploma – required.
  • Read, learn, and embody the teachings and principals from the book “Unreasonable      Hospitality” by Will Guidara
  • Must adhere to Powder Haven’s appearance guidelines.
  • Acquire binding certifications and follow on training as required. – Rental Specific.
  • Minimum of 1 year retail sales experience preferrable in outdoor industry equipment.
  • Basic knowledge of snow helmets, gloves and goggles, ability to explain features.
  • Ability to operate POS sales machine.
  • Able to work with the discerning guests in a friendly, courteous, respectful manner.
  • Able to handle heavy customer demand for extended periods of time.
  • Be resourceful and thinking one-step-ahead of the needs of our guests.
  • Reliable transportation, or commitment to using UTA. Ability to work weekends, holiday, evenings, on-call, occasional overtime.
