Essential Responsibilities & Duties

  • Phase I Environmental Site Assessments - site inspections, regulatory and file reviews, report preparation.
  • Phase II/III Subsurface Investigations - coordinating and supervising subcontractors; health and safety planning and implementation; environmental media (soil, groundwater, and soil vapor) sampling, well installation oversight, logging of borings); data management, manipulation, and analysis; and technical report development.
  • Remediation Planning and Implementation - Remedial Action Plan development, field supervision and environmental media sampling, field implementation of health and safety; and technical report development.
  • Regulatory Permitting and Transfer Act Filing Support - Research and preparation of environmental permits and Connecticut Transfer Act filings.
  • Oversight of junior field staff to complete soil borings and groundwater monitoring well installations, collect soil, groundwater, surface water, sediment, air, and soil gas samples, collect data in complex field situations with supervision, and document field activities.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 5+ years of related environmental site assessment work.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Earth Sciences (e.g., Geology, Hydrogeology, or Water Resources) or similar Environmental Engineering (e.g., Civil or Environmental).
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills
  • Self-motivated with a desire to pursue and overcome challenges.
  • Strong writing skills, including attention to detail, and experience with technical, scientific report preparation.
  • Positive, flexible, team-oriented applicant. Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment in the office and when in the field must be comfortable in adverse weather and site conditions, including working in rugged terrain. 
  • Effective time management and follow-through, with the ability to simultaneously work on multiple tasks/projects and meet project deadlines.
  • Willingness to travel from time to time to client sites and facilities, work outside in any weather condition, and meet physical demands of field work.
  • Focus on health and safety.
