Traditionally, the apparel industry globally has been driven by fast fashion, which does not take the environmental and social impacts of garment manufacturing into account. The Patagonia Sportswear business unit seeks to disrupt and challenge this model, and pioneer and scale environmental and social responsibility, by introducing new initiatives (including recycled nylon, recycled down, natural dyes and Fair Trade) into the product assortment.  We are looking for someone who is highly collaborative and loves building product that is equally beautiful, functional, and productive.

Supporting the Product Line Director, it is the Product Line Manager’s responsibility to drive the development and delivery of a product line that increases revenue, gross margin, and market share with a strategic assortment of best-in-class products. With their understanding of the Patagonia product range and business, the market, and key stakeholder insights, they leverage our internal product teams and resources to assist in delivering innovative products that resonate with our global sales channels. 

The PLM is responsible for maintaining necessary and timely product, competitor, and market information in a manner that enables the Product Line Director to effectively manage the W’s Life Outdoor Category.  The PLM must work cross-functionally with design and development throughout the product creation process to achieve seasonal product goals. This individual will maintain all systems, information decks, and product marketing information related to the category. This person will also be responsible for creating impactful presentations that apply digital tools at appropriate gates to inform and inspire cross functional and downstream partners around our seasonal product strategies.  

What You’ll Do:
  • Deliver a globally-relevant line of best-in-class products that maintain/grow revenue and gross margin, decrease our planetary impacts and support our broader activism.
  • Engage the interdepartmental product team to drive workflow, operational priorities and actions towards deadlines on the seasonal Go-To-Market Calendar.
  • Deliver briefs and other forms of product communication to Design, Development, Marketing and Materials Teams.
  • Oversee and manage relevant and current product, competitor, trend and market information for the W’s Life Outdoor category.
  • Maintain the category line plan, retail pricing, color information and all relevant product information within the PLM system and necessary line planning, pre-lining and line review tools, for W’s Life Outdoor.
  • Think critically to evaluate situations, make responsible decisions and drive projects to completion.
  • Select and maintain category sales sample set and manage SMS process.
  • Work with design and development to ensure all products are fit correct, executed per the brief, and achieve costing and margin targets.
  • In partnership with product creation team, help develop products that stay true to the Patagonia’s design principles and initiatives.
  • Develop strong working relationships with colleagues across teams and drive the product development process by enabling and empowering others.
  • Responsible for leading presentations and discussions with global sales channels, buyers and key dealers to gather insights that inform product and line development.
  • Responsible for creating content and leading presentations with global sales channels at Global Line Reviews and Sales Meetings.
  • Develop content for sales and marketing tools, merchandising strategies and other product planning needs essential for delivering seasonal product collections.
  • Manage allocated travel budget for tradeshows, dealer visits, market tours, and regional sales meetings.

Experience You Bring:
  • Bachelor’s degree and MBA preferred, but not required.
  • 5+ years sales, product or marketing experience in wholesale, retail or direct businesses.
  • Experience in the product development process, merchandising and assortment planning processes, strategic product creation process.
  • Deep understanding of the Women’s apparel, outdoor industry, and active market (key consumer trends and moments, aesthetic, preferences, relevant brands, industry collaborations, brand history, etc.)
  • Experience with PLM or another Product Lifecycle Management System.
  • General understanding of apparel construction and sourcing process.
  • Strong verbal communication skills and the ability to deliver presentations to large groups.
  • Exceptional understanding of business and marketing objectives with a proven record of delivering against KPIs. 
  • Strong quantitative/analytical skills.
  • Attention to details and deadlines.
  • Working knowledge of personal computers with experience in the use of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Adobe Illustrator.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite programs. 
Pay range: $91,871.82 - 153,119.70 USD Annual
Hiring range: $100,000-$120,000 USD Annual

At Patagonia, pay ranges are assigned to a job based on the location specific market median of similar jobs according to 3rd party salary benchmark surveys. Individual pay within that range can vary for several reasons including skills/capabilities, experience, and available budget.
