OUR VISION FOR THIS ROLE:

JUMP! Canada is looking for dynamic, passionate, and hardworking facilitators to deliver transformational, fun, and safe courses for youth at our wilderness site near 100 Mile House, BC.


KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Attend all JUMP! training sessions at the beginning of the season.
  • Facilitators will work in collaboration with the Program Director, Lead Facilitator and the JUMP! team to deliver transformative and safe experiences for youth in the wilderness and at our off-grid site. With supervision and support from the Program Director and Lead Facilitator, responsibilities will include:
    • Program Delivery: Assist the Lead Facilitator in facilitating experiential learning activities and opportunities that are engaging and empowering for participants. Guide participants to develop increased self-awareness, confidence in self-expression, interpersonal skills, and new perceptions of their own potential. Facilitate JUMP! activities and discussions.
    • Risk Management: During all activities, transportation, and camping, implement JUMP! organizational safety procedures. During off-site expeditions, assist the Lead Facilitator in risk assessment, risk mitigation, and emergency response as needed. Document and report any incidents, accidents, or near-misses to the Lead Facilitator and Program Director in a timely fashion.
    • Mentorship: Support and create opportunity for all staff and students to learn. Be a role-model and invest in supporting your peers and students through their own discovery of self, leadership, and life-direction. 
    • Relationship Management: Foster positive relationships with participants, local community partners, and adult stakeholders in our programs (parents/guardians & teachers).
    • Course Planning & Design: Work with team members to design and plan all courses. Within your core staff team, work collaboratively to develop logistics, debriefs, and specific activities to meet the learning objectives of the program.


REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience backpacking
  • Experience flat-water canoeing
  • Experience working with youth in wilderness settings
  • Wilderness First Aid certification (40 hr)
  • Experience facilitating youth in introspective discussions and debriefing activities
  • Experience with high ropes courses and climbing walls


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Certification in outdoor skills areas: canoeing, backcountry travel, rock climbing, ropes courses
  • National Life Saving Certificate (Waterfront preferred)
  • Class 4 Canadian Driver’s License (or willingness to obtain)
  • Candidates must possess Canadian citizenship or valid work authorization in Canada

    CONDITIONS FOR EMPLOYMENT:

    • Remote Base Camp Living: As a program staff member, you will live and work on-site at our beautiful, remote base camp, located 20 kilometers west of 100 Mile House in the Cariboo region.
    • Child Safeguarding Commitment: At JUMP! Foundation, child safety is paramount. To ensure the well-being of our participants, all applicants must:
      • Sign a declaration of any criminal convictions.
      • Provide three professional references who have known you for at least two years.
      • Undergo a thorough background check from your home country or most recent country of residence.
      • Adhere to our Child Protection Policy and conduct guidelines for working with children.
